Change is sweeping across marketing. One of the more significant shifts has been the rise of the in-house studio. How creative agencies respond to this new landscape will go a long way to defining both their identities and their fortunes. For many, the future will be informed by technology and its transformative benefits – just as it has been at Leagas Delaney. With thanks to Campaign UK for the feature.

Ironically, one of the biggest challenges I found with in-house agencies is overcoming their own inability to embrace change and uncertainty to achieve better work for themselves. Particularly if the in-house agency already exists before you get there. The successful creative models I always quote are Olivetti and Benetton. I've found a better way is to build everything bespoke, from the marketing process, right through to advertising. It's madness for companies to attempt in-housing with a cookie cutter solution.

Great article, Gareth - so many agencies cling to the past instead of seeing the opportunities in new models!
