Congratulations to my colleague and friend, Rob Jobbins, on his award for Northern Finance Director of the Year, £25-£100m. It's no surprise that this is the 2nd time Rob has won this award. I've put some key points below as to why (and why we work well together) and perhaps some tips on how to work with your FD! ⏬⏬ 👊 Our relationship is more husband and wife than manager and employee. This has been critical to our success; having a relationship with your FD transcending the typical line manager setup is meaningful. We know how each other likes to work; we can be apart, and it doesn't matter, and we never go to bed on an argument! (well, end the day....) Conventional thinking says don't befriend your colleagues - but for me, it's the backbone of our work together. It doesn't cloud my judgment, and Rob never exploits it. 😬Disagree daily. Rob and I rarely have the same point of view, yet we always get in line with each other. Our debates maintain a spirit of transparency; Rob constantly challenges me, but if I disagree, we move on, and he supports whatever I decide and vice versa. This is invaluable. 🔍 The devil is in the detail. I've never worked with someone so obsessed with the details but equally obsessed with ensuring that data does not blind us; the key is finding time to find the gems, the insight, and the actions. Rob and our Ops Director Guy Hunsworth are superb at this. 🗣️Speak like a human! I've seen the glint in Rob's eye more than once when I'm struggling to get my head around a complex financial point. He brings me along, step by step, keeping it simple so I see the point in my mind. We've perfected this over the last 6 years, making our conversations very quick and easy. To all FDs, make it simple: we know how smart you are - the skill is making everyone else see it and understand it! 🤣Have fun! Rob is incredibly self-aware and laughs at himself without a moment's hesitation. This balance of professionalism with a fair dose of fun makes even the most challenging situation easier. I've said this to Rob many times, but I will forever be grateful for his help in steering the business through COVID without any significant stress, the above points all enabled us to come out the other end fighting.

🚀 We had an absolute ‘blast’ at our TC Group Quarterly Business Review (QBR) earlier this month which was held at the National Space Centre. It was great to see our Hertford, Leicester, Milton Keynes, Northampton and Southampton offices come together to update them on our most recent business updates and of course, as always, celebrate the great work our team do for our clients and our business too. We had a lot to cover… so what did we talk about? 📈 Updates & performance from our Offices and Service Line heads. 🧑🤝🧑 Our Employee Board had their largest slot yet, updating everyone on their client and team-focused projects, as well as survey results and their next steps. 🏆 This quarter’s Values Awards winners – congratulations Ana Iliescu, Gemma Rutland, Stacey Connor, and Jane Midlane! We had a record number of nominations 👍🏼 The results of our client experience surveys were shared. An incredible score of 9.4 out of 10 from our clients. We couldn’t achieve this without our teams working together effectively. A real team effort 🧑🤝🧑 Our People – we heavily focus on our team at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we’re constantly re-evaluating and looking at our company perks and benefits, as well as accommodating as much as possible to each generation within our team. 🤩 Even more interaction through Slido surveys and polling including a Board Q&A. 📊 Our new wins and sales and growth plans were shared by Tom Dymond … and a whopping score of 8.5 from our people on the “Would you recommend TC Group to Friends and Family” question! 🎉 Thank you so much to National Space Centre for having us for our offsite QBR, and to every member of our team for making it such a success! This was my first Quarterly Business Review (QBR) since I joined TC Group in January, and the following is a superb summary of the day from Stephen Watts. To change job/career after nearly 38 years wasn’t something that I did without a lot of thought. That said I can whole heartedly say it was the right thing to do. The leadership, the culture and best of all the people make this business. They are an inspiring team who come together, not only to support one another, but to best serve their clients and they continue to do this with great success. Rejection and failure can be a catalyst for growth; although difficult in the moment it can lead to something great! After attending an energetic revenue kick off meeting for a mission driven company working to help clients & clinicians, I find myself reflecting on this journey the last 2 years. 🌟I’m honored to win the Pinnacle top sales leader award and make Chairman’s Club for the second year. 🌟I’m proud of my team & their support. 🌟I’m thankful for great leaders & their guidance. 🌟I’m grateful for this opportunity to continue to grow and help therapy practices. 🌟However, I’m also appreciative of all the NOs that led me here. We don’t always understand why life works out in those moments. After 20 years of being an occupational therapist I wanted to grow my career and diversify my skill set. Without sales experience I faced a lot of rejection in my job search yet was still determined to find a sales opportunity and leverage my clinical skills. Sometimes a NO helps you learn along the way to propel you where you are meant to be. I was passed by for many interviews due to lack of “experience” and overlooked for many opportunities due to more experienced candidates being a better fit. Thank you to the leaders that believed in me here & to Therapy Brands for not only giving me a chance, but for facilitating my growth in order to help hundreds of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy practices find a software solution to streamline their work flows & put time back in their day to better serve their clients.
