I recently participated in my Graduation Ceremony, marking the completion of my Masters in Management degree from ESSEC Business School in Paris. Amidst all the proud and happy faces, I found myself in contemplation, struggling with a multitude of questions. This introspection was because I couldn't recall my initial aspirations with which I started the journey 4 years back. I am a different person now, and don't remember the version of me then.
Following the ceremony, I attended an Alumni event in New Delhi, where I engaged in conversations with prospective students, who all had 100 questions to ask,
"Should I pursue a Masters in Management (MIM)?"
"ESSEC or another Business School?"
"In India or abroad?"
"What might be my post-graduation salary?"
"What is the Return on Investment (ROI)?"
Did I have these same uncertainties when commencing my journey? Undoubtedly, I did.
Did I manage to find answers before enrolling? Unfortunately, no.
Do I possess clarity on these queries now? Not sure.
At every juncture in life, decisions are made based on the best information available at our disposal. While we naturally accumulate more knowledge as we evolve, that doesn't help us go back in time and change things.
Reflecting on my graduation day, I realized that, initially, I pursued the degree without a clear vision of what lay ahead, leading to confusion about the purpose of my journey. If I could turn back time, my only counsel to myself would be to deliberate, reflect, and exercise patience in decision-making. There is no rush for anything.
Despite the array of emotions, my Masters journey afforded me some of the most memorable experiences. From meeting people from around the globe - literally, making amazing friendships, confronting constant challenges, delving into entrepreneurship with my spirited partners Medha Thakkar Sravani Vakacherla Swathi Lenin, traveling the world and opening up my mind.
For those who inquire about the ROI, I don't know! How does one quantify the ROI for the experiences? If you unlock the formula, do share it with me! If not, question yourself on what you need, the answer is not with some Alumni, or you tuber. Its what you want in life.
Thanks to every single individual who was part of my ESSEC journey, You all had a hand in making my life better, and I appreciate it more than words can say!
