Retaining donors doesn’t have to be complicated, it needs to be regular and routine — like watering a plant. A simple donor retention strategy should include three parts: ✉️ send the thank you and receipt within 48-72 hours, and tell them about the impact of their first gift 🗓️ 3-5 periodic communications about your important work, including invitations to engage, volunteer, or visit 🎁 invite a second gift at a small increase for a specific need within 60-90 days If your one-time donor is passionate about helping the people you serve, they may be excited to invest more in the important work your organization does. Common Great collected and analyzed emails from nonprofits sent to recipients for Giving Tuesday 2022. While the data is from 2022, many of the takeaways and best practices still apply. If you’re looking for a way for your organization to stand out on Giving Tuesday 2023, read the full report on our website. For this study, we looked at emails sent over a 24-over period on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. We wanted to identify trends and opportunities and see what we could learn from this global giving day.
