The study showcased that CT-996, a once-daily small molecule, led to a significant placebo-adjusted mean weight loss of 6.1% in just four weeks. We are pleased to share our most recent publication, where we share the cost-effectiveness model we've developed to evaluate the efficacy and economic viability of Digital Variance Angiography (DVA) over Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) for lower limb x-ray angiography from the perspective of the English National Health Service (NHS). Utilizing a two-part economic model that integrates both a decision tree and a Markov model, this analysis delved into the financial and health outcomes related to the use of DVA, particularly its effects on the onset of acute kidney injury (AKI), chronic kidney disease, and radiation-induced cancer across a patient's lifetime. The model's base-case results revealed that DVA not only reduces costs by £309 per patient but also enhances quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) by 0.025. This improvement is attributed mainly to the diminished risk of contrast-associated AKI and a lower risk of developing carcinoma. The two companies have just announced the initiation of Phase 1 evaluation for BI 771716, an antibody fragment-based treatment developed with technology licensed from CDR-Life Inc. Geographic atrophy is a chronic and progressive, irreversible retinal disease that occurs in people with late-stage dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD), impacting their ability to see. Having worked on this paper as an internship deliverable during my summer internship at IQVIA, it is surreal to finally see it in fruition! 😍 This Companion Diagnostics (CDxs) paper is part of IQVIA's thought leadership on the future of Precision Medicine, and where the region (APAC) is at currently in our regulation of CDxs. As a brief introduction, CDxs improve patient outcomes by helping to match treatments having genetic undertones with patients having the specific genetic predisposition that responds to the treatment. It is a burgeoning realm that is currently focused on oncology, since many cancers are tied to genetic mutations. Regulatory concerns are a major hurdle for companies manufacturing CDxs, as countries may have different requirements governing this class of Medical Devices -- affecting things like market access and patient accessibility.
