The key to financial success for news organisations is diversification. By removing the reliance on a single audience segment or product, news organisations can reduce the risk of "revenue concentration", where over 50% of revenue comes from one source. This article from our Head of Insights, George Montagu, reflects on findings from our new report and the News Sustainability Project, which involved data from 450+ publishers. It provides a “state of the nation” view on this important topic, assessing the evolution of revenue diversification and offering tactical advice for future strategies. Ditch the misconception that impact reports are mundane. Check out this example from responsAbility Investments AG if you don't believe us.👇 💚 Reports are more than just data; they're a chance to tell a *compelling* story that resonates with your stakeholders. And the more stakeholders you engage, the more chances you can expand your business avenues. 😉 So, please stop feeding your stakeholders static pages of data. 🙏 #ContentCreation #b2bMarketing #AnnualReport #ImpactReport

Impact Report Insights! It's been just over 1 month since we published our first Impact Report - here are 3 key insights we have learned since then: The most viewed page was our Performance Scorecard, with nothing but numbers on show. 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝟭: No one wants want to be reading for hours. Instead we all want important information, presented in an efficient manner. For us, this was highlights of key statistics that allow us to understand whether we are doing a good job at ‘making an impact’. 65 stakeholders have viewed it. Now, this can seem like a high effort low reward in terms of engagement, however we are pretty happy with 65 people taking a keen interest in what we do! We have not marketed it at all (apart from our original post on here) and could probably have gained much more traction if indeed we had. It does pose the question of whether it is indeed worth it or not. 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝟮: We created this using exclusively internal resources (in many parts down to Oscar's great eye for design) and if we had spent a lot of money, then perhaps this would have disappointed us. However the process of creating this report has made us truly look in the mirror and analyse the good (and the not so good) that we create as an organisation, more than anything else has. Our Global Reach? Obviously the vast majority of readers are from the UK, however an interesting insight was that we have managed to get the attention of people across the globe, from Spain to New Zealand. 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝟯: your stakeholders are indeed probably a lot more varied than you may think - ensure your communication is inclusive to capture a wider audience. To conclude - publishing an impact report can seem daunting (we kept putting it off as there was always something more ‘important’ to do), however if you want to truly begin to be completely transparent with your stakeholders and lift the carpet to see what you have really been doing - we can’t recommend getting stuck in as soon as possible. It's impact report time! ⏰ (Yes, it's finally hitting the digital shelves!) We have been thinking hard about how we want to measure our progress on impact, so since our last report we've amended some metrics and reviewed our targets and actuals to better reflect growth. An example of one of the ways we've done this is by switching to percentages, or figures per head, rather than numbers which aren't really comparable as we grow. Now, we're ready to continue the year as we started it - by smashing some of our targets! 🎯 That said, we're looking forward to challenging ourselves and hopefully you'll enjoy taking a look at our achievements and what we're planning. The fun thing about an impact journey is that it's often unique to each organisation, but the key is that the reports are a tool to help us remain transparent as we continue to create a positive impact for our stakeholders across the board. Not bad for our second report, eh?! (We'll probably be looking for some help with the design of next year's...!) Let us know what you think! https://lnkd.in/e2dZBdsA #ImpactReport #Sustainability

📅 WEBINAR | 25 OCTOBER | DEMYSTIFYING DOUBLE MATERIALITY 📅 We are excited to invite you to a webinar on demystifying double materiality as we delve into what double materiality assessments are and share Ipsos’ new innovative approach to it. You will walk away learning how your business can effectively navigate this new reporting mandate. What is Double Materiality? Double Materiality assessments are a critical tool to help bridge the perceived divide between what is good for financial health of a business and what’s good for the people and the planet. However, as a relatively new concept with no universally standardised alignment and many competing frameworks on guidance, many businesses are at risk of carrying out double materiality in a way that does not add meaningful value to investors or to sustainability strategies. What are the limitations of current approaches? We will cover some limitations of traditional approaches, including: 🔵 Reliance on perception based results 🔵 Competing, confusing guidelines and frameworks 🔵 Data manipulation with weighting 🔵 Lacking objectivity and following ‘company protocol’ 🔵 Lacking in a ‘whole business’ approach The need for a new, innovative model There is a need for a novel, innovative model that addresses current limitation and increases confidence in the results of the stakeholder consultations. Ipsos will detail this new approach, alongside best practices for execution in this webinar. https://lnkd.in/eUBB4PEv Join us to learn more. The session will include a Q&A with the presenters Jessica Long, James Allen, Christine Rush and Arushi Gupta. #IpsosESG #ESG #CorporateESG #DoubleMateriality
