What a week! The first tour of our #USElectionSpeakerSeries with Megan Shahi from Center for American Progress comes to an end. The expert for Social Media and its role in political discourse visited Kaiserslautern, Mainz, Leipzig and Berlin. During her trip she spoke to a wide variety of people about social media, the companies, technology and people behind it and the U.S. elections. The audience included highschool- and university students, journalists, activists and policy experts. These conversations ranged from individual interviews to roundtable groups, panel discussions and lectures. On Thursday and Friday, Megan joined us in Berlin to share her expertise, including two discussions opposite Jonas Roleder and Ben Brake. Thank you to our partners at Atlantic Academy Rheinland Pfalz, Deutsch-Amerikanisches Institut Sachsen, the State Center for Civic Education Berlin, the Embassy of the United States in Germany and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom for making this possible and thank you to Megan for sharing fascinating insights. This is just the beginning of the Election Speaker Series - there are seven planned tours to come, as well as some local speaker engagements. Stay tuned!

Thanks for having me. We are halfway through the global super election year and it was a good occasion to take stock of state of play of platform regulation and political advertising.

Thanks for having me on your panel on the challenges of social media during the past #EUelections2024 and the upcoming US presidential elections as a representative of the Europäisches Parlament in Deutschland.
