You can donate here: https://lnkd.in/gefS_-D8 Here's the recap: - My total step count was 430,916 - I hit my target of 10,000 steps on each day of the month. - My lowest step count was on Friday 1 September with 10,379 steps. - My highest step count was on Sunday 10 September with 21,877 steps. - Sunday is my highest average step day with 18,728 steps (supposedly my recovery day) - Saturday is my second highest average step day with 15,398 steps (thanks parkrun!) - Friday is my lowest average step day with 12,419 steps - Looking at October vs September, my average steps has already dropped significantly - a clear testament to the value of having a goal! #steptember #cerebralpalsyawareness #fundraiser

Rural & Regional: Setting up state-of-the-art therapy centres that support children with disabilities and their families in rural and regional areas. Youth Programs: Curated programs that empower teenagers and young adults with disabilities to tackle new challenges and experience the best life possible. +more! Simple way to do some real good.

Life after stroke support is crucial for optimal recovery and improved quality of life. The National Clinical Guideline for Stroke are explicit on the need for life after stroke services for all. However, despite clear guidelines advocating for universal access to life after stroke services, the implementation remains inconsistent. Thousands of stroke survivors are left without vital support, creating a postcode lottery of care. This is why we are supporting the Stroke Association's ‘Thriving After Stroke’ campaign, which is calling for people to write to their local politician to enquire about local life after stroke services in their area. As a trial attorney, you learn to recite facts in a compelling manner. In doing so, you learn that truth is often stranger than fiction. So let me tell you a story... I left my decade-long career as a prosecutor to join The National Child Protection Task Force full-time in 2021. I had no apprehension. It was a leap of faith in a dedicated group of individuals who were focused on saving #justonemore child from exploitation. However, I had one regret: not being able to directly support my community the way I did as an ADA. I missed that direct impact I was able to give survivors and their families. Then I received an email earlier this year from an officer we trained in New York. That officer was thanking us. He told us about a young girl who went missing - presumably a runaway - in his jurisdiction. However, based on our training he knew something didn't add up. Utilizing techniques NCPTF taught him, they located the girl with a man twice her age who had groomed her via a video game platform. Between our training and their ceaseless work, they were able to recover the girl in 24 hours even though the defendant took her out of state. The defendant brought her to my home county in Pennsylvania. He's being prosecuted by my former office. NCPTF strives to serve all law enforcement and strengthen their ability to recover missing and exploited children. The more we are able to train officers, to assist them in their times of need, the wider the our impact. It's the butterfly effect in action. We know from personal experience, that discovering your baby or child may require heart surgery can be an exceedingly difficult and worrying time. At Down Syndrome UK (DSUK) we work hard to provide information and support to parents of children and young people with Down syndrome, and so we created PADS Heart Buddies to provide support to families of our babies and young children. Heart Buddies are parents whose little ones have previously undergone the same/similar procedure, who have kindly volunteered to virtually hold your hand and provide support, offering understanding and practical advice throughout this stressful period – from initial hospital appointments to surgery and through to recovery. What exactly are BRETS, the innovative pajamas we're making for metro-Detroit children who face terminal and chronic illnesses that frequently leave them hospitalized? When most children are admitted to a hospital, they're given bed gowns which can leave them feeling vulnerable and exposed. Our pajamas are designed with snaps in the seems to allow medical staff to attend to the patient while remaining fully clothed. The tops have a v-shaped neck to accommodate medical instruments as well as an opening on the chest for cancer ports or other medical wires or tubes. The bottoms have buttons on the waistline to adjust for any weight changes, and have elastic so the patient is comfortable lying down or sitting up.
