Beyond grateful to have been invited and had the opportunity to be on this panel at Eurobike on our Shimano booth hosted by Rachael Burnside ⭐️ Thank you to my fellow Uplift mentors Rachael Burnside Nikki Hawyes Cassondra Spring and the Team at SHIFT Active Media and Shimano Europe Group for this opportunity 💟💙💟 The panel focus was to: ⭐️Inspire CONFIDENCE ⭐️find the opportunities to connect and forge CONNECTIONS ⭐️and lastly RETENTION, keep women finding fulfillment within the industry so that they stay in the industry. However I also feel that the discussions lead us to deeper points of: -Welcoming people into the industry, we all have passion otherwise we wouldn’t be here, so let’s take the time to nurture for growth. -Being curious and feeling confident and safe to ask questions is so important. -Acknowledge your weaknesses and don’t be afraid to ask for help. -Understanding that humans are all “wired” differently and we need to take that into account in how we think and wish to progress as businesses. -Imposter syndrome is there and it is a big hindrance for career growth, so build up eachother, provide only constructive feedback and be open to constructive feedback. -And lastly don’t try to be anything but your authentic self and always work on your personal development, it’s your biggest investment into your career ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Never in a million years did I think that in less than a year this collective (and 15 others mentors) would have achieved what we have. 40 mentees mentored (from 300 applications) 5 live events 🇬🇧 🇩🇪 🇺🇸 600 in real life guests, coming together to keep the conversation alive, regardless of industry turmoil (60/40 - F/M) & 2 podcasts with my hard to follow Scottish tones 😜 but Gaspare Licata is helping me with that 🙏 (because men can be mentors too) But for me, I’ve also made so many new connections. Last weekend, around 40,000 cycling enthusiasts and professionals visited Velofollies at Kortrijk Xpo Meeting Center. 🚴♂️ The Achilles Design bicycle design team saw a lot of interesting designs and noticed 2 important things: • Many bicycles are identical underneath the paint At first glance there was a wide range of brands and models, but it soon became clear who turned to which Asian OEM partner. Fortunately, there are a few Belgian and European brands that still firmly choose a brand identity that stands out from the crowd. ✨ • The public wants innovation According to many 2024 will undoubtedly be another difficult year with a lot of overstock and little innovation. Yet, we noticed a broad and enthusiastic audience looking for new and exciting things in the cycling world. The £400 adidas Adizero Adios Pro 1 aims to find out… Road running has entered a new age, improvements which were once considered as marginal gains have become the norm for many recreational runners. The Evo 1 has been designed for the height of performance and the design and marketing team have certainly taken note. The minimal colour pallete reflects the sole purpose of performance, speed. The release date of the new product is also no coincidence. The shoe will make its official debut at Berlin marathon on the feet of the best marathoners in the world, at the fastest marathon in the world. Two days later the shoes will be released to the public in limited quantities via a raffle. Research conducted by Gupta (2013) suggests that strategically controlled environments, by creating product uncertainty, can motivate behaviour such as urgency to buy.
