I had the privilege of meeting Andy Jassy, the President and CEO of Amazon, a few days ago in Davos Economic Forum at a special CEO dinner gathering attended by some of the most influential CEOs in the United States. During our brief conversation, I discussed the positive impact of Amazon's vision, as well as Jeff Bezos and Andy's passion, which has led to the creation of products like the Alexa kids' tablet and Echo. I shared with Andy the charming story of my 6.5-year-old daughter, who talks to Alexa more than she talks to me and even refers to Alexa as her best friend. She has even asked Alexa when her birthday is. I intentionally shared this story with Andy to highlight our, thanks to Jeff and his passion, my daughter has a personal assistant that helps her with spelling, provides weather updates, and connects her to a world of knowledge through Alexa. Returning to the theme of the CEOs' meeting, the primary focus was to gain insights from these esteemed leaders about their perspectives on 2024 business opportunities and risks. Regarding opportunities, there was a consensus that in 2024, the field of artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to provide numerous opportunities across various industries. AI technologies will continue to advance, and businesses that harness these capabilities will enhance their competitiveness as well as impacting every signal one of us . However, when discussing adverse risks, the consensus was that potential risks could stem from factors such as the unknown impacts of AI, the spread of misinformation, supply chain disruptions, and the potential political impacts resulting from the outcome of the next presidential election. This gathering provided valuable insights into the dynamics of the business landscape in 2024, highlighting the dual potential for growth and challenges that business leaders need to navigate effectively.

🌟 Wow - Talk about saving the best for last at the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Executive Summit! 🌟 Today’s rapid pace often pushes us to rush team formations and leap directly into projects. However, Margaret Heffernan Professor of Practice at Bath University, revisited Bruce Tuckman’s classic model during her keynote to remind us that genuine teamwork unfolds in stages—Forming, Storming, Norming, and Performing. This journey is crucial for building the social capital that underpins our teams. 🤝 At the core of high-performing teams is trust. It not only allows us to truly collaborate but also drives us towards innovations we couldn’t achieve on our own. Margaret’s words at the summit were a powerful reminder: “AI doesn’t replace collective intelligence; it depends on it.” This insight is vital as we increasingly integrate AI into our workplaces, highlighting the necessity of human collaboration. 🚀 The key to success? Collaboration. It creates an environment where innovation is not just supported but sparked. By trusting our colleagues and embracing technologies like AI, we cultivate a synergy that accelerates both our projects and our personal growth.

At a time when the public mood about the economy is noticeably glum, the #Fortune500 CEOs in our annual survey come across as surprisingly sanguine. bit.ly/4bZfZHC Only 28% think the U.S. economy will stumble into recession in the next 12 months. Almost 70% believe the Federal Reserve will lower interest rates before the end of 2024, suggesting that they think policymakers are closer to beating back inflation. And fewer than one in five believe their companies will reduce headcount this year. Like the rest of the business world, these CEOs are preoccupied with AI, but few seem worried about its disruptive impact. Only 22% identified tech transformation as one of their chief worries. As a group, they’re also showing their admiration for AI in other ways: The CEO they most admire is Satya Nadella, the architect of Microsoft’s race to the front of the pack in generative AI. And the stocks they’d personally most like to own are Microsoft and AI-chip dominator NVIDIA.

Last week, our Founder Jamie Savage had the privilege of engaging with Canadian and US policymakers to discuss the crucial task of establishing effective AI governance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It took place at the United States Embassy Ottawa and Consulates in Canada and was hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Google, Amazon, and Microsoft. Jamie was invited to the table and was there to ensure the voices of SMEs were heard. Considering that SMEs make up 99.7% of all Canadian employers and generate approximately 50% of Canada’s GDP, their role in the economy is undeniably significant. A Microsoft study recently underscored the transformative potential of generative AI, projecting it could contribute an additional $187 billion to the Canadian economy by 2030. To drive AI adoption and ensure that regulations are inclusive of SMEs’ needs, these are the several key areas that need to be addressed ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gcw93kh7 By focusing on these areas, we can create a robust and inclusive environment that empowers SMEs to harness the full potential of AI, ultimately driving economic growth and innovation. #AIgovernance #AI #SMEs #USembassy #USchamber #Business #Innovation #Change #Growth #Canada

Founder of GPTStrategic | 35+ Years Experience in the Tech Industry | Businesses deserve an unfAIr advantage | Improving quality and transforming organizations using Generative AI | Avid Golfer
'Twas a few nights before Christmas when all across town, AI rolled out to turn the economy around. Better decisions, efficiency gains and cost control, Product innovations set to radically overhaul. The leaders awoke from their strategic planning session, To tackle deployment with care and discretion. The models were eager to prove business worth, But wary staff wondered - will AI take our jobs first? So leaders calmed nerves because that was not the intent, This technology for greater purpose was meant. With responsible governance - no place here for greed, And reskilling programs so all employees succeed. Blurring lines between roles of human versus machine, Together reaching potential never before seen. Ushering in a new era of purpose-led production, Earth's greater good through fair digital disruption. So next year prepare for creative destruction's fast wave, But need not worry, there are abundant goals to save. If strategy meets ethics and training reaches all hands, AI will only augment - not replace future man. Here's hoping with foresight and care as our guide, Technological progress is harnessed for human good tide! I wish everyone the happiest of holidays and a phenomenal year ahead! Yours truly, https://lnkd.in/g7CFEPwS #Leadership #Innovators #Microsoft #GPTStrategic

Transforming behaviours through neuroscience-based insights | Executive Coach & Facilitator | Medical Doctor | Neurodivergent
I had a great experience speaking about "The Neuroscience of Decision Making" at Google Cloud's event on #AI at the The Ivy Soho yesterday. There is an ever growing need for businesses to innovate, integrate diversity of thought and reappraise existing processes regardless of their stage of growth. Leveraging brain performance and enhance decision making capacity is key regardless of the industry, business need or pain point. In this keynote, we explored: - The processes behind intuitive fast decisions vs slower, more rational complex though processes and how these impact daily personal and business decisions. - The survival mechanism and biases that we operate from in most of our decisions and what this can look like in operational and design processes. - Practical tips on how to re-wire the brain to make better choices for more successful outcomes. Thank you to all the dynamic and engaged leaders in the room who had such interesting stories and backgrounds to share! Thank you Polly Dougan, Holly Bennett, and Jessica Love for bringing me on board and it was great speaking alongside Dr Yin Yin Lü.

This quote about companies driving value to earn the right to survive is why Satya Nadella is a benchmark for mature leader psychology. The statement about improving the company isn’t born of anxiety or opportunistic competition. It’s based in the belief and drive to continuously evolve Microsoft via a focus on understanding and delivering VALUE to the market. Mindsets like his, Jamie Dimon, & John Mackey’s are represented in only about 1% of the population. Thus why adoption of concepts such as #ConsciousCapitalism are difficult. We don't have enough leaders and employees who are able to solve problems unclouded by their own fear of uncertainty.
