Despite the virtual setting, the signing ceremony witnessed the participation of esteemed dignitaries, notably Mr. José Antonio Villena Sierra, Vice-minister of Promotion of Exports and Investment from Ecuador. In his insightful address, the Vice-minister underscored the myriad opportunities awaiting exploration between #Singapore and #Ecuador. He emphasized Ecuador's dedication to fostering stronger ties with academia and gaining valuable insights from Singapore's innovation journey. Why are Chambers of commerce and other NGO important to develop sustainable business in Vietnam? Every February and March, organizations hold their annual general assemblies (AGM) to review the past year and plan for the future. Attendance at these events is crucial to show support for the dedicated board members, and private organizations that contribute to their success. Vietnam, with its dynamic economy and vibrant culture, presents opportunities and challenges for international and local businesses alike. In this context Chambers of Commerce and NGOs serves as “bridge”, connecting international businesses with government entities, local communities, and other stakeholders. "Despite the challenges, European companies are showing exceptional resilience, adaptability to the current situation and strong commitment to supporting its employees and supply chain partners," said Karina Ufert, CEO of EuroCham Myanmar. The 11th Business Confidence Survey conducted by EuroCham Myanmar in June 2023 found that businesses are encountering major challenges with banking, regulations, electricity, logistics, safety and security, which are impacting their operations and the market. Nearly half of the businesses surveyed reported increasing product prices to balance the rising costs, and 44% have seen a decline in profits in recent months. In spite of these difficulties, the majority of EuroCham members report their intention to remain in Myanmar. Africa's vast resources and rapidly growing economies are attracting global attention. This has led to a rise in "Africa-Plus-One" summits, where major powers host African nations for discussions on #economic #development, #trade, and #security. Japan was a forerunner in this approach, launching the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in 1993. Japan pioneered this with a focus on #private #investment, inspired by their own post-war growth. Challenges include risk aversion on the part of Japanese investors, who are accustomed to a stable environment. Africa, on the other hand, faces issues with political instability and corruption in some regions. Additionally, underdeveloped infrastructure and a lack of skilled labor in some African countries can make it difficult for Japanese companies to operate efficiently.
