Privacy or security issue? It’s both and very alarming. To protect our seniors, we need a multi pronged approach that includes privacy education, training, and awareness, as well as privacy by design, and of course enforceable privacy laws. In case of doubt, don’t click or answer… well, even if there is no doubt, anything that sounds urgent or too good to be true is worth stopping before reacting. Please talk to one senior today about these issues and how they can protect themselves. It’s everyone’s job. Voices of Privacy #privacy #voicesofprivacy #makeadifference

This BBC documentary shows how few crimes are solved by the police in UK. The burglary detection rate is particularly dreadful (around 5%) and the impact on two female victims is clearly shown. Ten years ago, three times more burglars were caught and prosecuted. AND in the same period, 40% of households have invested in video recording devices - Ring Door Bells or home CCTV (this is shown as well), so the detection rate should have gone up - not down! The SRI / NFR team can an establish an end-to-end image system ensuring that more images are gathered, more are identified and more result in offenders being sent to jail. Please let us help your police force - wherever it is in the world. AND the system utilises officers on restricted duties or volunteers, where possible - further reducing costs. info@nevilleforensicrecognition.com - for more information. https://lnkd.in/e84HXGBT

In the actual case, there was a social media element - where the incident was all over social media and such. I tried to put in but ultimately it wasn't in the final cut, but it'd have been interesting to have seen how that would have turned out! _______________ 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝙎𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙖𝙨𝙚 Choosing the wrong path can lead to grievous consequences. This is a complex area for sure with spiralling poor service across multiple areas. This issue is why a fundamental review of what policing is in the 21st century and what the police do is needed. The legitimacy of UK policing has eroded in the eyes of many supporters over the past 15 years due to poor responses and failure to catch and successfully prosecute and thereby provide justice for victims. Who’s fault - the government, PCC’s, Chief Officers, Academics CPS all have contributed in some way, often in the case of chief officers because they are trying to do so much more with so much less. My colleague Craig Paterson and I published a paper to inspire discussion and new thinking around victim oriented policing. Towards Victim-oriented Police? Some Reflections on the Concept and Purpose of Policing and Their Implications for Victim-oriented Police Reform https://lnkd.in/gisKyV4q
https://lnkd.in/gHhsZkuf Very disappointing viewing! So who is responsible for woeful police performance and what should be done?
