You may be enjoying #SharkWeek on the Discovery Channel, but what about in real life? Some shark species are appearing in new spots, signaling a connection to #climatechange. Rising ocean temperatures and coral reefs on decline are dramatically altering shark species' habitats, driving them to explore new waters. Protecting our reefs is crucial, as the loss of these ecosystems would have a detrimental impact on sharks. So the next time you’re watching Shark Week, think about the sharks impacted by the #climatecrisis. Source: bit.ly/43Gm32w

Founder of Ocean Vision Legal – first law firm worldwide entirely specialising in Marine Protection.
I just signed this open letter calling to accept the wanton distruction of the marine environment as an international crime. Will you, too, raise your voice? Rights of Nature and Ecocide are newly emerging legal frameworks that aim to recognize the intrinsic value of Nature itself, rather than just using it as a resource. Like the violation of the Right of Life is prevented by the crime of murder, recognizing Ecocide as an international crime, will prevent the violation of newly emerging Rights of Nature. Both frameworks, thus, are two sides of the same coin. Read more about the commonalities of both frameworks and how they can contribute to a paradigm shift in how humans treat nature in this blog post by the creator of Ocean Rights, Michelle Bender, the co-founder of Stop Ecocide International, Jojo Mehta, and Co creator of #ocean for Ecocide law, Antoinette Vermilye (she/her). https://lnkd.in/gKAedhdB
It’s time to rebalance our relationship with the ocean! The #ocean, home to myriad species and countless interdependent ecosystems, is our greatest source of oxygen and the world’s primary regulator of weather and #climate. International recognition of #ecocide will provide a much-needed framework to protect ocean wildlife and marine ecosystems. Fact- Dead oceans = Dead Planet. All life on Earth depends on maintaining healthy oceans Ie Pre-industrial levels of biodiversity with fully functional ecosystem services. Human activity and pollution has exterminated over 90% of oceanic biodiversity compared to Pre-industrial levels and decimated global ecosystem services to the point where the Earth can no longer support human life. https://lnkd.in/exTX9-Kj This global destruction has been defined in law is called "Ecocide". Question- "Should this Ecocide be allowed to continue or should Ecocide be made illegal?" If you want to help make Ecocide a crime, please support the legal campaign here: www.stopecocide.earth

Wetlands are not wasted lands or wastelands, they are Lifelands. iNovaland takes landscape and ecosystem-level restoration with high regard for People and Planet.
A planet without #Wetlands is a dead one. These natural wonders are the kidneys of our Earth, vital for our survival as a human race. At iNovaland , we take a landscape-level approach to protecting and restoring invaluable ecosystems including riparian zones such as wetlands. #Restoring4PeopleAndPlanet . #WetlandsAndHumanWellbeing #WetlandsDay #NatureConservation

🌊🌍 World Oceans Day is tomorrow! 🌍🌊 The oceans are a critical driver of weather and climate, contain the world's largest ecosystem, and contribute trillions of dollars to the global economy. Lynker is proud to be a premiere provider of trusted ocean services and technology that enable continuous monitoring of marine ecosystem health, prevention and mitigation of marine debris, and sustainable coastal management. Pictured is Lynker’s Large Whale Resource Protection and Monitoring Assistant, Maria Harvey, working with the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary to tag Humpback whales with CATS tags to better understand compromised animals (entangled or ship-struck). The tags allow for collection of 4k video, acoustics, energetics, and fine-scale movement data to help protect these majestic giants. #WorldOceansDay #ProtectOurOceans #OceanConservation #Oceans #HumpbackWhales NOAA permit #24359

Coral Vita grows coral to restore dying reefs. 🐙 🐟 🐠 Just like people cultivate trees for reforestation, we cultivate coral for reef restoration. Coral reefs are some of the most essential ecosystems on Earth. Using methods pioneered by our original advisors, we strengthen our coral’s resilience to threats like climate change while accelerating growth rates up to 50x faster. After growing the coral in our high-tech, land-based farms until they reach a suitable size, they are planted out 💮 into degraded reefs in the ocean to revitalize their health. Sam Teicher and Gator Halpern, Co-Founders are doing great work at Coral Vita 💪 🙌 🤝 #coralrestoration #climateaction #positiveclimateaction

🐋 Today, on International Whale Day, let's take a moment to appreciate the majestic beauty of these incredible creatures and renew our commitment to their protection. Whales play a crucial role in maintaining the health of our oceans, and it's up to us to ensure their conservation. 🌊 Did you know that whales face numerous threats, including habitat loss, climate change, pollution, and commercial whaling? Now more than ever, it's vital that we come together to advocate for their preservation. 🌍 As individuals and as a global community, we have the power to make a difference. Whether it's supporting organizations dedicated to whale conservation, advocating for marine protected areas, or reducing our own carbon footprint, every action counts. 🙌 Let's join forces to safeguard the future of these magnificent creatures and the ecosystems they call home. Together, we can make a positive impact and ensure that future generations will continue to marvel at the beauty of whales. #InternationalWhaleDay #WhaleConservation #ProtectOurOceans #MarineLife #EnvironmentalProtection
