I'm in a stock that would save the NHS £140m a year if adopted at scale....lovely too see. - NHS England – There are over 200 NHS Trusts within NHS England. Applying the cost savings from the EKHUFT across 200 Trusts suggests that the adoption of SSD by NHS England in total could save c£140m per year. We note that this reflects adoption for lower gastrointestinal procedures alone, with Speedboat increasingly being used to treat upper gastrointestinal conditions. Speedboat was cleared for upper GI use in Europe in June 2023, with x stating that over 40% of Speedboat procedures in FDA regions were performed in the upper GI. 

As part of our commitment to expand access to quality health care, Helmsley has granted $11.6 million to three health systems in Nevada, bringing life-saving #ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) technology for patients in rural communities suffering from acute cardiac and pulmonary failure. The availability of ECMO provides timely medical support to those experiencing severe respiratory and cardiovascular distress who face additional challenges around physician shortages, lack of equipment, and geographic barriers to emergency treatment. The grants will go to Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican Siena Hospital, Renown Health Foundation, and University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMC), funding physician and staff travel to active extracorporeal life support centers, training equipment, consultation services, and other tools for program expansion across the state. “ECMO can be a game changer for patients with severe heart and lung conditions,” said Walter Panzirer, a Helmsley Trustee. “Without ECMO, hospitals have to transfer patients to other facilities, and those who are too unstable for transport could die before receiving needed care.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dSBcE5Eb

The Ministry of Health has a goal of 5% of the population becoming regular donors, and while they haven't reached that point yet, donations are increasing. In a joint effort to ensure more lives are saved in emergency cardiac situations, John Healey, the Labour MP for Wentworth and Dearne, recently spearheaded a national campaign. Collaborating with Wath-based defibrillator distributor Martek Lifecare and the British Healthcare Trades Association, the campaign focuses on an important issue that often goes unnoticed: the high VAT on defibrillators. Defibrillators are an essential medical device in times of cardiac emergencies. They play a critical role in increasing the chances of survival during a sudden cardiac arrest. However, current regulations stipulate that various groups, including sports clubs and charities, are subject to a 20% VAT when purchasing these life-saving machines.
