I had the pleasure of connecting with a longtime friend and Hotel Assistant General Manager this weekend. Some key take aways were: 1- Housekeeping remains a focal point issue while planning/projecting his budget. Temp agencies have him trapped on a "Hamster Wheel" overspending for talent that he'll never be able to bring on full time. 2- On call Banquet Staff has become less and less reliable post Covid - seems as though there is an entitlement bubble building up within their circles. 3- It is very TOUGH to find accountable, organized, and reliable Maintenance Crew members who actually are familiar with day to day hotel maintenance needs. 4- Hotel F&B is and continues to be a revolving door of talent. People will come in, ACT committed to the team, only to disappear after a shift or two, which is a major expense that directly effects the rest of his budget. IF ANY OR ALL OF THESE FEEL ALL TO FAMILIAR TO YOU - LET'S CHAT!!! My team at Gigpro has specific use cases helping to alleviate each of these pains. The Challenge of Defining Productivity Standards for Housekeeping Floor Supervisors in Hotels: How Many Rooms Should They Check Per Shift? In the fast-paced hospitality industry, the role of a Housekeeping Floor Supervisor is integral to guest satisfaction. I believe, defining a specific and reasonable number of rooms for a supervisor to check is a practical approach to ensure a balance between quantity and quality. During my time at a hotel in Limassol, I was tasked with checking a whopping 75 rooms per shift. This breaks down to around 6.4 minutes per room within an 8-hour shift. Can a room meeting 5-star housekeeping standards be consistently provided to guests within a timeframe as brief as 6.4 minutes per room? The meticulous attention to detail and pristine conditions expected in luxury accommodations typically demand more time for thorough inspections. Is it realistic to uphold the high standards associated with a 5-star experience within such a tight timeframe?
