A key concept driving change in the energy sector is net-zero (i.e. not adding to the total amount of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere) which is a factor in many countries’ energy legislation and is leading to the development of more offshore wind infrastructure. In 2022, 83% of new energy capacity came from renewables and, in 2023, 117GW of new wind infrastructure was installed. With significant existing investment in Europe, the USA and Asia, and many countries taking their first steps offshore, it’s a really exciting time to work with offshore wind. Fabric formworks have been contributing to underwater projects since the 1960s. They were once crafted from cotton canvas bags in Scotland and are now produced in India using polypropylene. Earlier today we raised a flag to mark Armed Forces Day this coming Saturday and Reserves Day today. Armed Forces Week is a chance to show support for everyone in the Armed Forces community. As a ‘forces friendly’ company it’s especially important for us to take time to honour the day and as a mark of respect to our several veteran employees and their families.
