Any Company, whatever the size, turnover or staff, can only be as good as its people. All of them. A reasonably sound indication of the company ethic, its value to personnel, and its approach to family values is invariably the number of long serving members within the organisation. Those individuals that could have moved, and most likely would have had offers elsewhere, but still chose to stay. There are many reasons why you would choose to do so, and I know, it is vital to find out why that is. I have been conducting a series of face-to-face meetings with all our staff, both internal and site based, mainly because we have staff in all departments that have been with Glidefield for more than 10yrs +. I have found, though I knew it really, that communication is the key. That whatever is happening within a business, good or bad, is passed on. That the feeling of inclusion, the togetherness is maintained and progress or setbacks is shared. We will be highlighting two of our long serving engineers in future posts, so I will let them tell you why they stayed and the value they put on their service. Let’s talk about slavery! Let’s talk about prison labor as modern slavery. Then let’s talk about organizations that promote modern slavery with stories like this. They do this to convince people in the community that they are doing good work. This companies annual budget for SLAVE LABOR is around $200k for over 14,000 people annually. While the likes of their staff are budgeted for over $2.3 MILLION for salary. THIS IS SLAVERY! We have families on food stamps, welfare, kids left home without a parent to watch them, the states bleeding money for helping families pay bills…but none of the people who work for OCE can pay child support, they can’t send money to struggling spouses. We incarcerate parents and make them work for slave wages. Then we turn around and tell the families and kids left behind that they should be on welfare or food stamps because we, Oregon, as a state believe that it is better served that we provide food stamps and welfare instead of fair wages and child support.

The tractor-trailer looks like it is pulling a walking floor trailer. It maybe hauling processed materials that can be used in landscaping, reclamation, and/or soil enhancement projects/work. The walking floor trailers are a unique and added-value transportation feature of the solid waste industry, as they benefit both the driver and the customer, as they can allow and/or give the driver the best options in placing the material at the jobsite without having to decouple the trailer. The decoupling of a trailer is usually executed by the driver at a landfill when the purging of a trailers load requires the trailer to be placed/backed-up on a tipper. It is after the trailer is decoupled and placed, that an operator of the tipper raises the loaded trailer, purging it of its contents. From there, the material is spread and compacted throughout that working cell of the landfill by bulldozers and compactor machines. The compactor plays a unique part in trying to attain the greatest in-place density which will vary based on such factors as soils, waste characterization, and the weight of the machine, to name a few. The compaction process also plays in key role in the sanitary landfills airspace permitting process as well.
