Veteran Housing Corp says that IF YOU ARE NOT PART OF A PERMANENT AND LASTING SOLUTION TO THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS AND HOMELESSNESS, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM! THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS BROKEN AND NOT WORKING FOR AMERICAN TAXPAYERS Veteran Housing Corp would ask every TAXPAYER to demand and get answers from their elected and appointed government officials the below questions as they relate to any affordable, workforce, or supportive housing project in your community! 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority and affordable or workforce housing stakeholder should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8 Additionally, local, state and federal housing agencies should look to the Helsinki, FINLAND MODEL of ending homelessness by providing affordable housing for all 'It’s a miracle': Helsinki's radical solution to homelessness https://lnkd.in/er9HZSQU Even the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development AGREES THAT adopting FINLAND'S MODEL OF ERADICATING HOMELESSNESS may be of great value to resolving the affordable housing and homelessness crises in America https://lnkd.in/gkSZWYRU

Have you heard of Church & Burgers? Today we caught up with Jonah Beyer, President of Feed the Need Missions at Stray Gathering Cowboy Church in Muldoon, TX to have him explain what this event was all about. Here's what he had to say: WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF FEED THE NEED MISSION'S EVENT, CHURCH & BURGERS? "I would say to connect the church. We need churches to partner with us because we don't have a local church, and so we want to unite the local churches together to serve in the community. And we're a platform. Feed the Need’s weekly site locations are a platform where we get to engage the community. But we need believers to engage that community. So, Church & Burgers is a way to spread the word about the mission and what we're doing with that platform to reach people physically and spiritually." WHAT DOES THE FEED THE NEED TEAM DO FOR THE EVENT? WHAT ALL IS INVOLVED? "We come to your church and we set up a site like what we do every week and we"ll cook for your church. In addition to cooking for you, we also participate in the service. Whether it's preaching the whole sermon or just doing a little promo—we’ll do whatever fits the church's style of Sunday morning. After church, we want to share in community with the church body, and that means sitting down and sharing a meal with you. By serving your church burgers and hot dogs and getting to know your people." HOW CAN A CHURCH GO ABOUT GETTING A CHURCH & BURGERS EVENT GOING IN THEIR COMMUNITY? "It’s as simple as calling or emailing us. You can call our office, email us at info@feedtheneed.org. You can also reach out to a local site coordinator or a local site in your area that's serving and just make the connections, and we'll coordinate a Sunday that works for you. Church & Burgers is a great way for your church to learn more about Feed the Need Missions, and find out how your church can get involved in our helping our mission feed our local communities both physically and spiritually. Will you join us in being the hands and feet of Jesus? https://lnkd.in/gyD2QVXN #FeedTheNeed #ChurchAndBurgers #community #church #SundayService #BeTheHandsAndFeetOfJesus

32 years of criminal and juvenile justice executive leadership at the city, county, state and within a large non-profit agency level leading system wide juvenile justice reform and improving conditions of confinement.
That is leadership in action. Actions not words is how you measure leadership. Great display of leadership.
“The quality of your life will be determined by the quality of your contribution. When you work to improve the lives of others, your life improves automatically.” – Kurek Ashley I am incredibly proud of our 700+ staff across New York State who contribute their time and talents to better the lives of others in their community. In addition to their careers at Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth, so many of our employees contribute their time through volunteer work - supporting other nonprofits and needs in their community. This past weekend, I was proud to volunteer my time, along with Veronica Aguirre, to support Berkshire and our mission of strengthening children and families. Thank you to Saratoga Performing Arts Center and Legends Events & Hospitality for the opportunity!

At many organizations, including Save A Family Plan, the fiscal new year is April first. This is a great time to check with your employer to see if they offer a donation matching program. If they do, it could mean DOUBLING the impact of your charitable giving! Here is a great video submitted by longtime donors, Brad and Misty, sharing how they did it. If you're willing to share this info with friends and family, please share this post or send them the direct link (https://lnkd.in/dHzqVeQu) Here's a tip: if your company does not currently offer a gift-matching program... maybe they will if you propose one :) #DoubleYourDonation #giftmatchingprogram #peoplehelpingpeople #sustainabledevelopment #saveafamilyplan

LOOKING FOR FEEDBACK, I am trying to build a method of Giving for Donation ideas, and here is one I have come up with, where I am contacting companies that are Bee or Honey associated because our main character is a Bee. what are your thoughts? Hi, we are a nonprofit organization, in Fresno, for the prevention of abuse by educating through Play and Entertainment. We have cartoon/comic characters that are called the Bugillagers. Our main character is named RowJoeBee and his best friend is SemBelAnt. We are considering setting up a donation page based on naming the various characters that will be used in the comics and cartoons that we will be producing. Would you, as a BEE based company, consider donating to our cause, for the privilege of naming A Bee for our stories, A Queen for our stories, and/or a Hive for our stories? Or for a larger donation, create the personality for that character? Or even our other insectile characters. We are considering setting up a page on our site, that would automate such a Donate/Name feature, but we need to know if it would actually be viable as a method of getting involvement? Here is RowJoeBee https://lnkd.in/gaeQXTeW

Great to be back again serving as emcee at the 17th Annual Hearts of Texas Luncheon, honoring Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Randy Bowman, Community Partners of Dallas and the Lewisville ISD. Volunteerism transforms lives! Thanks to Volunteer Now CEO, Rachel Currie Triska, for inspiring her incredible team. Americans gave 4.1 billion hours of service to humanity as volunteers last year. There's nothing more impactful than making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. As I share in my keynote address: "Live your life as a go-getter, yet, forever share your life as a go-giver."
