Placing the very best senior level search professionals with New York City's most prestigious executive search firms
This week I celebrated my 5 year anniversary at R2R Global and naturally it gave me a chance to reflect on my time in the world of recruitment to recruitment. In our Monday morning sales meeting our Global MD Matthew Gostelow asked me for one piece of advice that I’d give our team after 5 years in the business and nearly 10 years in the industry as a whole. There are more than a few lessons I can share and endless war stories but the biggest piece of advice I would give someone starting out in the recruitment industry is to never be afraid of feeling uncomfortable! Embrace it. Take on scary new challenges because that’s when you grow the most both professionally and personally. I joined R2R right at the start as the firm’s third hire and I’ve watched the business grow into a team of 30 placing candidates all around the world. I spearheaded the launch and growth of a brand new business in R2R NYC, built multiple practices from scratch on both sides of the Atlantic and have trained and developed teams of exceptional people. Every time I’ve tried something new, there’s always been that feeling of anxiety and nervousness that comes with taking on any big challenge. But what I can say is it’s been an incredible journey over the last 5 years. We’ve never shied away from taking risks and definitely haven’t stayed within our comfort zone! And whilst there’s always going to be ups and downs, I’m so glad we’ve taken those risks because we wouldn’t be where we are today without doing so. So that’s my one piece of advice after a decade in the industry – get comfortable feeling uncomfortable!

I was out on the road with one of our new hires yesterday and I must say it was refreshing to hear how many good things he had to say about his previous employer. Often times people leave jobs with their middle fingers in the air, or they will talk down about their previous company whenever given the opportunity. In this instance, he left on great terms and had nothing but respect for the people he worked with. When someone leaves a company it doesn't mean that they were a bad company; sometimes they leave because there is a different opportunity that will better suit their life. #WGOC #Zelistotle #newhire #truckdrivers #recruiting #nowhiring #firstday #previousemployer #reputation #opportunity #respect #roadtrip #transportationindustry #jobs

Time really flies! Last week marked my fourth anniversary at SHC, and reflecting on this journey, I'm struck by how rich and transformative these years have been. I'm sharing this post not just to celebrate a personal milestone but because the insights I've gained across different roles at SHC are too valuable not to share. These experiences have deeply influenced my professional path, and I believe they can inspire and guide many of you in your own careers. Over these four years, I've worn three distinct hats—𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀. Each role offered unique challenges and learning opportunities that have profoundly shaped my approach to business. ▶ In 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀, my goal was to deeply understand our software and ensure our customers felt supported and valued. This role underscored the importance of listening attentively and solving problems effectively, which are crucial skills in any customer-facing job. ▶ Transitioning to 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵, I collaborated closely with our development team to enhance our product based on real user feedback. This experience taught me the importance of innovation and simplicity in creating tech solutions that not only function well but are also user-friendly. ▶ In 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀, I learned to simplify our complex tech talk into clear, client-friendly language. It was all about connecting our products to real-world needs and helping clients see the tangible benefits we offer, without getting bogged down in jargon. Now, I'm really excited to share what I've learned from these three different perspectives. They've not only helped me grow professionally but also given me a well-rounded view of our business. I think these insights could be super helpful for others in our industry too. A huge thanks to my incredible team for supporting me throughout this journey! I’m looking forward to sharing more, learning more, and connecting with all of you. Reflection time… A few months ago, I was in a spot where work felt more like a daily struggle than an opportunity. It wasn’t about the tasks at hand; it was about feeling like I just didn't fit in. My previous job had a toxic work environment - lacking support, where everything was labelled urgent but not thought out. Great ideas that could have become wonderful campaigns didn't even get to see the light of day. We were often undermined, only to be placated with a pizza party as an "I'm sorry." I stayed mainly to avoid a gap in my resume, and every day felt like an uphill battle against imposter syndrome… I spent months searching for a role that felt right, but nothing seemed to fit - until I came across a posting that seemed like it was made just for me. Taking a leap of faith, I made the switch, and I haven't looked back since. Fast forward to today, and guess what? I've just wrapped up my probation period with some incredibly positive feedback! 🎉 Working from home has opened up a whole new world for me. I’m now part of a team that's all about supporting and uplifting each other. It's amazing how much difference a positive, respectful work environment can make! This new role has not only reignited my passion but allowed me to thrive, putting out some of the best work I've ever done. This experience has been a real eye-opener for me. More than that, it’s given me back my time and allowed me to put myself first, bringing out qualities I never knew I had. If you're ever feeling stuck or undervalued, remember that sometimes, the best change you can make is where you work and who you work with. Exploring new environments can truly bring out the best in you and even improve your well-being. I'm so grateful for this new chapter and just had to share the good vibes with you all. Here's to finding your tribe, reigniting your spark, and truly thriving! 🔥 #NewBeginnings #WorkFromHomeLife #FindingMySparkAgain

February was a rollercoaster for Our Agency 🎢 We said goodbye to one of our OG employees, marking the first departure from our agencies in 4.5 years! It also marked another 1 year anniversary for a different team member Here are 3 principles that allowed us to grow and retain our team so well. 1. Self Fulfilment Principle 🙌 Our team members are welcomed on their first day and told “Job security is totally in your control, you will only ever get replaced if you aren’t fulfilling your potential.” From the off set, we aim to breed a culture of being the best version of yourself in and out of work. Just like a sports team, it’s competitive and you’re encouraged to be better - and there’s always someone chipping at the heels to get your space on the first team. 2. Our Growth Mindset Principle 📈 The team member who move on has experienced crazy personal growth over the time I’ve known her. Not only has she mastered the skills she first came to us with, but she has gained management, authority and confidence in loads of different areas. Now she is going on to create her own thing. The departure has been bittersweet, as we lost an awesome team member but the industry has gained another talented creator 3. Our Ownership Principle 🤝 At Life Like we have our infamous Friday morning training mornings. During these sessions, we hone in on a particular area of focus We remind the team that they can break barriers, get creative, and move outside of the norm. Not only can they- but this is ENCOURAGED. By constantly challenging themselves, some of the team will inevitably outgrow us. And ultimately as the Founder, that’s my goal. I’d like to wish her all the best in new ventures, can't wait to see where life takes you! We have a few openings available at the minute. Think you could fill the role? What an incredible way to end the week! Today marks my 6 month anniversary as the Talent Acquisition Coordinator at Ann Summers 🐇 💕 Time really does fly by when you're passionate about what you do, and I couldn't be happier to be part of this amazing brand! ✨ During my 6 months here, I've celebrated some noteworthy accomplishments that I am incredibly proud of: ✅ Fortunately completed my probationary period! 👫 Built some valuable connections and relationships across the business! 💥 Played a pivotal role in planning and executing several Early Careers Assessment Days, recruiting 13 EXCEPTIONAL and TALENTED candidates that were ready to kickstart their career! 🌟 Sourced multiple brilliant candidates for our Head Office roles with 18 of them now thriving as my colleagues at Ann Summers and a few more starting with us in the next few weeks! 🌳 Experienced a lot of personal growth, shaping me into a more resilient and resourceful professional! And these are just a glimpse of the many highlights I could share. I can't wait to unveil what the next 6 months has in store for me. For some this might not seem a big deal but for me at the age of 26, uncertain about my career path, I felt a great deal of pressure and despite the challenges, I've now discovered my calling! 📣 Talent Acquisition resonates with me on so many levels, especially the joy of providing people the opportunities they once dreamt of. Headhunting top tier Business Support professionals across a multitude of sectors including Fire, HVAC, Construction, Electrical, Civil, Engineering, Property, Logistics and Security
Last week I celebrated my one year anniversary with Core Talent Pty Ltd and what an amazing first year it has been. As I look back on the past year, transitioning from managing a high volume Temp Desk in Education to now working on a fully Permanent Desk in Construction and Engineering, I'm compelled to highlight the striking differences between these two realms of recruitment... 🌏 🔄 Embracing Change: Transitioning from temp to perm recruitment has been a dynamic shift, filled with new challenges and opportunities. While temp roles provided a fast-paced environment with rapid turnover, moving to permanent has allowed me to delve deeper into relationships, understanding the long-term needs of both clients and candidates alike. 📈 Building Lasting Connections: One of the most rewarding aspects of this transition has been the ability to build long lasting connections. In temp recruitment, the focus was often on quick placements, but now, I have the privilege of truly understanding the goals and aspirations of individuals and matching them with companies where they can thrive long-term. 💼 Strategic Partnering: Shifting to permanent placement has enabled me to become a strategic partner for both clients and candidates. I now have the opportunity to collaborate closely with hiring managers, offering tailored solutions to meet their talent acquisition needs. Simultaneously, I'm able to guide candidates through every step of the hiring process, ensuring a seamless transition into their new roles. 🌱 Personal and Professional Growth: This transition has been a journey of growth, both personally and professionally. It has pushed me out of my comfort zone, allowing me to develop new skills and broaden my understanding of the recruitment landscape. Each day presents a new learning opportunity, and I'm excited to continue evolving in this ever-changing industry. I am filled with enthusiasm about my continued journey and growth within the business and of course continuing to make a positive impact in the lives of both clients and candidates, creating lasting connections that drive success for all parties involved. 💫
