Hey fellow wanderers As I sit here, miles away from the comforting embrace of my homeland, I find myself engulfed in a wave of nostalgia. There's something about being away from home that makes you yearn for the touch, feel, and aura of the place that shaped you. Today, I want to open up a conversation about that universal feeling of missing home. 🏡 Home is more than just a physical place; it's a collection of memories, traditions, and the warmth of familiar surroundings. Whether it's the aroma of home-cooked meals, the vibrant traditions that paint the tapestry of our lives, or the little things that make our homeland uniquely beautiful – these are the threads that weave the fabric of our identity. So, my fellow global citizens, do you find yourself missing the essence of your homeland? Let's share our thoughts in the comments below. What specific aspects do you miss the most? Is it the taste of a traditional dish, the sound of familiar music, or perhaps the annual festivities that make your heart ache a little? 📝 I've also created a survey form to dig deeper into this collective sentiment. Let's understand together what it is that tugs at our hearts when we're away. Your insights are valuable, and together, we can create a mosaic of experiences that connect us across borders. #MissingHome #WanderlustHeart #HomeAwayFromHome https://lnkd.in/gArcmrXC

Celebrate the 4th safely this year. Hand and eye injuries due to fireworks send people to the emergency room every year over the Independence Day Holiday. In order to ensure you can return to work without incident, follow these tips: 🧨Always light fireworks on the ground and never in your hands. 🧨Never put your face over fireworks when lighting them. 🧨Do not use fireworks when intoxicated or impaired. 🧨Follow the directions on packaging. 🧨Do not allow small children to use fireworks. Sparklers burn at 2,000° F and account for 25% of fireworks related emergency room visits. Your best bet is to leave it to the professionals. Search to find where there is a fireworks show in your community. Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇲
Wishing everyone a happy and safe 4th of July! Our country turns 248 years old this Independence Day and hopefully everyone has an enjoyable holiday whether it's BBQing, lounging in the pool or at the beach, or spending time with friends and family watching fireworks. #IndependenceDay #4thofJuly #America #USA #AccentCompliance

21 Ways In 21 Day #17 Our National Day is Love the Land Day. What if we reframed Australia’s National Day to “Love the Land Day”? The tag line could be, throw off your shoes and throw off your fears, get connected with the Land we all Love. On ‘Love the Land Day’ people are encouraged to walk on the land with their bare feet and learn to love it more. In a genuine way, people are encouraged to deepen their relationship to nature and to share in connection activities with their neighbours. ‘Love the Land Day’ is not just about nature. It is also about place. Where we live matters. On ‘Love the Land Day’ people are encouraged to find out more about the place where they live. What’s the history, how has it changed over time, and what’s the next phase for your place? If Australia’s National Day was ‘Love the Land Day’ it could help draw us closer through a common love of land and common fate. If we don’t love it, who will? If we don’t care and nourish the lands and waters, it will negatively impact the quality of life for all of us. ‘Love the Land Day’ takes us into the spiritual and personal with our individual connection to land, as well as the national arena of caring for country. Most importantly, ‘Love the Land Day’ will bring us closer together, feeling more belonging and pride in our places and neighbourhoods. Be encouraged and encourage others. Coming up Next: Our National Day is Postcode Pride Day

Finishing off my holiday in Dubrovnik which I deliberately curated to rest, reflect, and recalibrate. This marks a profound moment for me professionally and personally with numerous things to look forward to! This holiday coincided with the completion of Russ Cook’s (The Hardest Geezer) incredible year-long journey running the length of Africa. I must admit I had no idea who Russ was until seeing a post on X. I read with fascination articles speaking of his journey and life before this historical achievement and I was struck by three things: 1. Unparalleled perseverance in the face of extreme odds – you only have to read one or two articles that realise how difficult this was – robbery, kidnapping, visa issues… Ross states that 'No one gets to decide your limitations except you.’ 2. Power of community – Russ drew people from across the globe into his journey. People joined for certain legs of the journey. His timeline is filled with pictures of him and locals. In one post he comments “I spend so much time running alone I sometimes forget the power of running together, it’s so intrinsically human it makes me feel ALIVE like nothing else. Huge thank you to all the Namibians who have shown so much grace and kindness to us today and throughout all of our time here so far.”. 3. Optimism – Russ’ timeline is full of joy, gratitude and positivity despite all that he endured. Whilst I am no ultra-marathon runner (!), there are parallels that I can draw reflecting on my journey of growth over the last 3 years. I do not doubt that it would have been impossible to get through it all without my community. I am blessed with so many friends, colleagues, and mentors/coaches who have provided perspective, encouragement, and guidance. In Hidden Potential by Adam Grant, he makes a point about growth being dependent on guidance from others, particularly coaches. I couldn’t agree more. Thank you to those in my tribe. You know who you are! Takeaways: 1. Teachers and school leaders – Russ’ story is PRIME content for assemblies – Year 13 will be hearing all about it on Tuesday. 2. Invest in your community and use them 3. Positivity goes a long way

Some interesting facts about St. Patrick’s Day: St. Patrick’s Origin: Despite being the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick was actually born in Britain. He was captured into slavery and taken to Ireland, where he later returned as a Christian missionary. No Snakes in Ireland: The story of St. Patrick driving snakes out of Ireland is a myth. In reality, Ireland has never had any native snake species to begin with. Leprechauns and Fairies: The leprechaun, often associated with St. Patrick’s Day, is derived from Celtic folklore. These ‘small-bodied fellows’ were believed to be fairies and were known for their shoemaking skills. “The Luck of the Irish” is a phrase that originally emerged in America during the gold and silver rush eras, when Irish miners were often successful in their endeavors. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not an old Irish saying but an American one, and it was initially used in a somewhat derogatory way to attribute the Irish miners’ successes to luck rather than their hard work. Over time, the phrase has taken on a more positive connotation, celebrating the Irish for their perceived good fortune and resilience, especially in the face of adversity. Today, it’s commonly used to express good luck and is often associated with St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
