That's a concerning trend! Cybercriminals are getting more sophisticated with their methods. Here's what's happening: Compromised Passwords are the foundation of the attack. Data breaches or phishing campaigns can expose usernames and passwords on the dark web. Criminals use automated password testing bots to try these leaked credentials on various accounts. These bots can attempt logins at high speeds across multiple platforms. Many loyalty programs and memberships offer points or rewards that can be redeemed for valuable items or even cash. These accounts are attractive targets because criminals can exploit them for financial gain. Cybersecurity practices for individuals : 1. Don't reuse passwords across different accounts. Use a password manager to generate and store strong, unique passwords. 2. Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) wherever possible. 3. Be cautious of phishing emails and suspicious websites. Don't enter your login credentials on untrusted platforms. 4. Change your passwords periodically, especially if you suspect a data breach or phishing attempt. Cybersecurity practices for businesses:: 1. Secure Data Storage 2. Regular Security Audits 3. Educate Users
