I'd take some career reflection time to determine if AI-related upskillimg is a good idea.

"But now you've got free time on your hands" ... That's one way of looking at it. But I don't think most people will say "great! I've been laid off. Let me tackle that thing that costs extra time and money now. This couldn't have happened at a better time!" Instead, they'll need time to rest and recover. Layoffs can be traumatic. Then they'll need to look at how much runway they have with savings and current expenses. Then they'll have to prep for a job search that could last anywhere from 1 to 6+ months of no feedback, ghosting, and rejections. I get looking for the silver lining, but empathy and compassion for modern job seekers is sorely needed.
