It just made sense when I heard that Women's Elite Rugby is launching a professional competition in the USA next year. My initial reaction was validated after hearing Jessica Hammond-Graf, Ed.D. and Koma Gandy on the Eagles Overseas Rugby. During this episode Jessica and Koma share a very clear vision for what WER hopes to achieve. There is lots to be excited about; ✅ WER is built on the foundation of Women's Premier League - a domestic competition running since 2009 ✅ All seven WPL clubs agreed the time was right to establish a professional league ✅ Representatives from all clubs are members of the founding WER board ✅ A player's committee has already been established with representatives from all clubs ✅ WER will operate a centralised model; retaining ownership and financing of 6-8 clubs ✅ Recognition of WER's role in building success for the Women's Eagles programs ✅ A commitment to player welfare and fair compensation ✅ Organizational leaders that are deeply connected to the game and its community ✅ Operating in a thriving market for women's sport investment ✅One of the only women's full contact ball sports in the US ✅ A 10-year runway of major events including hosting rights of LA28 and RWC33. The excitement about the launch of WER is clearly being felt by current players too. Jenny Kronish, USA Eagle 297, expressed how supportive she and other current players are of WER. Jenny shared that a number of current Eagles players compete in foreign professional leagues so WER provides an opportunity for them, and approximately another 150 or so players, to pursue a professional career on home soil. All of this points to the fact that the establishment of a women's professional competition in the US makes perfect sense and that WER is the perfect vehicle to make this a reality.

Seems to be quite some time since the first episode of 'The Agents Angle' was released back in July, but the main topic is still very much at the forefront of the minds of those involved in the #FootballAgent industry. Episode 1 of "The Agent's Angle" focussed on arguably the biggest story in the football agent industry for the last 8 years, which is sending 'shockwaves' through the football agent world - the new #FIFA Football Agent Regulations (FFAR) - looking at the lead-up to the full implementation of the FFAR, the legal challenges FIFA and the #FFAR are facing around the world, the implications of those challenges, and what the outcomes may be come October 2023 and beyond. 'The Agents Angle' is available on all major podcast platforms (Spotify, Apple, Google, Amazon) https://lnkd.in/ebCW3DVB #football #soccer #fifa #ffar #footballbusiness #sportsbusiness #sportsindustry #sport #sportmanagement #sports #sportsbiz #sportbusiness

Now thats money in the bank thanks to women's football. 📺 💲 🇦🇺 🏆 🇳🇿 💲 FIFA Women's World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™ The staggering number of fans that tuned in Down Under to watch the England vs Australia semi final has been revealed - and the total figure crushed the reported 8.8 million people that watched Cathy Freeman’s historic run at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. There were 11.5m people that watched the game on Network Seven. And that was enough to make it the highest rating TV program on record since the OzTAM audience measurement system began in 2001. There was an average audience of 7.13m viewers on Seven and 7plus, including a national broadcast audience of 6.17m viewers on Seven alone. The historic victory for England also saw a number of streaming records smashed. Around 957,000 viewers tuned in on 7Plus with the match peaking at 6.9m viewers on broadcast. And, in total, that meant a mega 89.8 per cent of the commercial audience share switched on to make it the number one broadcast program in the whole of Australia yesterday. The numbers also mean that it was the most watched TV event in Australian history with 42 per cent of the entire nation watching on Channel 7 alone. Well done Australia for showing such support for the Matildas. 😍 👏 👍 ⚽ #kickoff #morethanfootball #womensfootball #football #wwc2023 #fifa #footballbusiness #australia #newzealand #fifawwc23 #thesun

Women's football has come a long way since the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, but fewer of the UK public watched the Lionesses' opening fixture of this World Cup vs. their opening fixture in 2019 (33% lower live UK average linear audience)... This isn't a like-for-like comparison however. The match kicked off at a much less convenient time for UK viewing and the TV landscape is quite different to 4 years ago. And importantly, there are several other ways we can look at it that tell a much more positive story: ✅ 3 points on the board 📺 Viewers watched for longer - 22 minutes more to be precise, with a longer broadcast helping that 🏡 The audience were more likely to have a young family - 30% of viewers live with children, up from 23% in 2019 ⚽ 58% of the audience from this year's opening fixture for the Lionesses didn't watch any of the 2019 Women's World Cup live Futures will be conducting an extensive post-tournament report on the consumption and interest surrounding the tournament, so we are looking forward to sharing more insights like this soon! 🦁 🦁 🦁

📚📅 What Did We Learn This Week?: The Magic of Lega Serie A Returns to UK TV! 🇮🇹✨ For those who fondly remember Football Italia, the return of Serie A to free-to-air TV in the UK with ITV marked a delightful moment. 🙌⚽️ The magic of 90s Italian football, with legends like Weah, Maldini, Baggio, Zidane, Ronaldo (R9) and Batistuta, not to mention the iconic kits, stadia, and that unforgettable Channel 4 soundtrack, still captivates. 🎶 What has truly caught our attention this week, however, is the resurgence in fans attending games in Italy. After 30 games this season, Serie A boasts an average attendance of 30,913, placing it third among Europe's top five leagues in terms of crowd numbers. 📈🏟️ Why this remarkable return? 🤔 According to a recent Forbes article, the sentiment is that fans, after being deprived of live football for over a year due to the pandemic, are no longer taking the opportunity to watch games in stadiums for granted. 💪 The resurgence of Serie A on UK free-to-air TV, alongside the surge in stadium attendance in Italy, underscores the enduring appeal and cultural significance of Italian football. The blend of nostalgia and a newfound appreciation for live sports has reignited the passion for calcio among fans. ❤️🔥 Are we about to witness the revival of Serie A? We certainly hope so and will be keeping an eye on how UK fans connect with Serie A. #SerieA #FootballItalia #ItalianFootball #Nostalgia #LiveSports #FanExperience #Calcio #FootballCulture
