Last week, some of the managers and directors at the Food Bank of Lincoln teamed up with the amazing crew at Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach to serve warm meals and spread joy. This collaboration reflects our shared dedication to compassion and service. Beyond nourishment, we're fostering connections and strengthening our community support system. We appreciate this partnership and remain committed to working together to connect more meals to more neighbors.

As a summer camp director, one of the mottos I'd try to instill in my staff was "See the need, meet the need" and at that time "the need" was a water cooler needing to be refilled or an extra set of hands in the kitchen. Reflecting on the work we've done at SWIM over the last year, I've realized that we're helping organizations addressing food insecurity use the "see the need, meet the need" philosophy in many ways ➡Using their data to better understand what their neighbors want and need, so they can "see" the need better. ➡Planning goals and strategies about what they learned from their data so they can meet the need. ➡Leveraging their influence to set the table for innovation and collaboration to assist others in meeting the need. 3rd attempt to post. Though at DEA they are not so proud to highlight their shortcomings that they have no issue hiding from taxpayers. They removed my previous posts which simply expresses DEA's willingness to hide their incompetence and disabled comments on the appropriate post. If this firm put out the truth and numbers of how many things they had to redo on this Highway 20 Safety Upgrade between Corvallis and Albany OR taxpayers would have something to say about this firm’s laughable ranking. How about it DEA, put out an itemized list of everything that had to be done two or three times because it wasn’t done right in the first place and how much taxpayers money was wasted in the process. In my driveway alone they had to do multiple things more than once. No wonder ODOT never comes in on budget with incompetence like this! Taxpayers should not have to foot the bill for this! DEA was contracted for at least the Newberg-Dundee Bypass, the worst one, up 239% from original estimate. https://lnkd.in/epv6uESx
Meet our next community champions in our Denver office! Our Denver staff volunteers for Food for Thought, an organization that seeks to provide children across the Denver metro area with food certainty over weekends during the school year. McKenna Jones, who participated along with teammates from DEA’s Denver office, said, “We recognize the importance of giving back to the communities in which we work, which is why we are proud to partner with Food for Thought Denver. Children are the future, and we are passionate about working to eliminate childhood hunger in our community.” At DEA, we're proud to highlight our community champions who embody our commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Utah's Staybridge Suites Midvale recently celebrated kindness during the Western States Lodging Management and Development 10x30 Kindness Challenge. The hotel prepared trail mix packages for local law enforcement officers, then delivered them as a token of appreciation for their dedicated service to safeguard the community. Staybridge Suites Midvale is a part of WSLM, a Lukas Partners client that is a relationship-first management and development firm focused in hospitality, senior living and multifamily housing. WSLM is in the midst of a campaign to complete 1.5 million acts of kindness this holiday season. The 10x30 Kindness Challenge begins with WSLM’s 5,000 associates, who are invited to complete 10 daily acts of kindness through Dec. 13. The month-long campaign launched on World Kindness Day, which was Nov. 13. Combatting the “holiday blues” is a driving force for the 10x30 Kindness Challenge. A 2021 study by ValuePenguin indicated that 55% of Americans experience the holiday blues. Many said their loneliness is worse than last year. The World Health Organization recently made loneliness a global health priority and launched a new Commission on Social Connection. Research indicates that a lack of social connection types is linked with poor mental and physical health. You can read more about the 10x30 Kindness Challenge in the latest Lukas Partners blog at https://lnkd.in/gD9w52Ya.
