Arguably the greatest running back of all time has spoken up about the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) in universities. It's disappointing to learn that his former university has eliminated all DE&I positions, leaving the responsibility to the Office of the Provost. As history has shown us, it's crucial to have diverse voices at the table when making decisions related to DE&I. 2024 is starting off with a bang... To all the people caught up in this War on Truth, know you are seen and our fight has only just begun. We live in a world of misguided energy, but we know damn well our energies are in the right place. This is why we chose this work. We know what we do is invaluable and we know the lives of so many would not be the same without the work we did, do, and will continue to do. Folks in this space have always found a way. With no money, we still made things happen. With reprimands and terminations, we found new ways to do even more. With cut backs and redirection, we still did the damn thing. We have never and will never fall for the okey-doke. In the same breath, I implore you to take care of yourselves. We cannot let this work kill us. Share the load when possible and step back when you need to because y'all, no is a complete sentence. Continue to speak your truth, continue to fight the good fight, and know you are not alone. Remember, we shall overcome because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.

🌟 Exciting Update from the Black Male Educators Convening in Philadelphia! 🌟 Thrilled to share the incredible experience of presenting at the Black Male Educators Convening in my hometown of Philadelphia! 🏙️ The energy and engagement from the audience were absolutely electrifying, and I am truly honored to have had the opportunity to discuss more holistic trauma-informed strategies and practices for education. 🔍 During the presentation, we delved into culturally relevant and equitable implementation strategies, focusing on addressing the unique needs of Black boys and men within the educational landscape. The discussions were rich, and the commitment to fostering a supportive environment for this population was palpable. 💡 One of the highlights was our exploration of culturally appropriate icebreakers and case studies, fostering a sense of connection and shared purpose among the attendees. It's incredible to witness how building these cultural bridges can contribute to a more inclusive and effective learning environment. 🎤 The true testament to the impact of the session came from the audience themselves. The attached video features a powerful voiceover from an attendee, expressing how the presentation captivated and inspired them.
