🔍 In 2023, nearly half of all truckloads (43%) moved partially empty, leaving an average of 29 linear feet of space unused. That's like having 1 in every 4 trucks on the road traveling completely empty. 🚚 This startling inefficiency in the freight industry is more than just a space issue—it's a call to action for new shipping solutions. 📖 Ready to dive deeper? Our full research study unpacks the implications of this waste and explores innovative ways to optimize shipping. 👉 Access the complete research study: https://hubs.ly/Q02w_nYP0

Competition road - rail. This happens in Sweden today! As of today, 5900 kms (!) of the Swedish road network is permitted for 34.5 meter long truck combinations. This means a considerable cost reduction measured per unit. The largest is the one for international traffic in Sweden, which has often consisted of a tractor and a trailer. Now you can tow two trailers after one tow truck in Sweden, i.e. 100% more. Don't know how the rail companies have prepared for this, but it's no surprise. This project has been going on for several years. The road network is also being strengthened by expanding the so-called BK4 road network. BK4 means that the maximum weight is increased from 64 tonnes to 74 tonnes. The combination of longer and heavier trucks obviously gives a multiplier effect. Freight trains, on the other hand, can look forward to up to 60% higher track access charges in 2025 compared to today. Within the railway, there is a superstition that the climate will miraculously save the railway without it getting significantly better. It must not be forgotten that the truck industry in Europe is reportedly investing 1000 billion in electrifying the trucks. It is in Sweden officially expected that freight traffic by rail will increase (by itself moderate) 1.4% per year compared to the average of the last decades which is 0.6% per year. Freight traffic's major challenge is not considered to be to survive but to gain capacity for its expansion. Personally, I have a little difficulty seeing how it will work with the binoculars into the future I have...
