Nothing can stop Northeast Remsco Construction (NRC), not even boulders! Yonkers Contracting Company, Inc. hired NRC to install eight 80-foot long, 36-inch diameter pipes via microtunnel under the Light Rail in Jersey City. This project in collaboration with the Port Authority, presented unexpected challenges: horizontal probing revealed various obstructions along the casing alignment, including concrete, boulders, and cast-iron pipe. But at NRC, we don't back down. We quickly adapted by acquiring the advanced Geonex - Horizontal drilling solution (Horizontal Hammer Boring) DTH Drill Rig. This cutting-edge equipment features unique horizontal hammer technology, allowing us to penetrate even the most challenging soil conditions. The job was completed ahead of our estimated schedule. Now that's what we call a breakthrough! www.northeastremsco.com #reputation #workethic #teamaccomplishment #trenchless #specialist

Angus Measurement Services, LP Special Services Group It’s Thursday August 24! Out here in the old Permian Basin, on the southwest edge of the Llano Estacado, off the south side of the Frankle City Highway in beautiful Gaines County Texas. And we are one day closer to rain. Tomorrow is Friday for those who have what was once a normal work week. And once upon a time, you won’t believe this but…anyway you begin your fairy tales, the world around, at 4:30 PM on the pipeline, it was payday. At that moment in time, as far a pipeliners were concerned, everybody was even. And all was right with the world. I have a hard time believing this picture was made 5 years ago. A 117-foot riveted tank. I still remember one of the welders, “Big Money” squaring off at the superintendent for making him dig out for the sump. It came down the welder did not want to be there, the superintendent did not want him there, but he was dispatched to the job. So, there they were. The welder would not drag up because for some reason he wanted to be run off. I sent everybody back to the house and called the project manager. The next morning, no “Big Money”. And things went on like nothing ever happened. As the World Turns or a Novela every day on some jobs. I love this business! The slotted shell can be seen in the background along with the “X” as anti-rotation prevention. This tank has a Wiggins Pan Floating Roof. You can see the primary shoe seal sticking below the bottom of the rim plate. All the fabric was removed for ventilation. The old floor was removed with base to give 12-inches of sand base at the edge. This is a Claymax liner. The profile of the floor is center down with a 12-inch sand base. This tank is a gathering tank where oil comes in from trucking facilities and a local field gathering system. It is then pumped to a mainline facility. The center down profile with the issue line in the sump and a Jensen 25 HP tank mixer allows the BS&W to keep moving. It makes for easier cleaning in the future. Another thing with this tank was the installation of VCI and a wire anode impressed current cathodic protection system. I am a firm believer in VCI if, and it is a really big IF the owner understands the requirements and limitations of VCI. It is not “set it and forget it!” If you have or are considering VCI as part of your cathodic protection program on aboveground storage tanks let Angus Measurement Services, LP Special Services Group work with you. The first VCI system I dealt with was in 2008 where we used a lawn seed spreader to place the VCI powder. You will never forget the smell. Anyone else having experience with VCI, let us know. As the old hippies in Austin used to say, “Onward, through the fog”. Everyone find at least one person today you can make their life a little better. Had a contractor call me this morning, frustrated with another company's inability to supply him the exact size of u-bolt he needed for his pipework installation. Problem is he's gone for pre-fabricated welded steel frames, pre-drilled and galvanised offsite, so he can't modify the frames without re-drilling / galv'ing etc. Could we help? As it happens we can - and the call highlighted again to me the benefit of using TekSpan with pipework supports. Got a slightly different u-bolt to work with? No problem - using TekSpan means you can adjust the spacing of the u-bolt holes by a few mm or cm's - whatever you need. Quickly and simply, no drilling, no re-galv'ing, no downtime and delays. All of which means more profit in your project. And that's what it's all about, surely?

For a Drill & Blast Engineer. designing drilling and blasting patterns is challenging if it is done in the transition zone area. In the image below, blasting must be done simultaneously in the contact zone area so that it requires extra handling so that there is no delusion so that the ore sent to the crusher is not contaminated. What do you think?

#PipeSticking in the Hole: A Practical Approach Open for Comments & Sharing Experiences When encountering a stuck pipe in a well, pinpointing the type of sticking is crucial—it could either be mechanical or due to a pressure imbalance. #Identifying the Issue: #MechanicalSticking: Where the pipe physically binds in the wellbore. #Pressure Imbalance: When the pressure inside the drill string exceeds that of the surrounding formation. Steps to Address Sticking: 1. Utilize the Drilling Jar - Engage the drilling jar to apply jarring forces. While effective, it may not always dislodge the pipe. 2. Calculate Overpull Margins: - Prepare overpull margin and kill sheets. Typically, the weakest point is the drill pipe from the surface due to tension. 3. Work the String Methodically: - Approach the stuck pipe cautiously, assessing with and without torque. Multiple attempts may be necessary. 4. Lube Pill Preparation: - Mix a lube pill (Mud + Diesel) and pump it down the string. Spot the pill at the bottom while displacing a few barrels both out and in the string. Resume working the string with and without torque. 5. Pipe Free Pill Application: - If the lube pill isn't successful, pump a pipe free pill using the same displacement method. 6. Consider #Acid Injection: - In cases of continued sticking, acid treatment depending on the formation can prove beneficial. Allow sufficient soaking time and Work on 7. Adjust Overpull: - If previous attempts fail, increasing the overpull within safe limits can be attempted. 8. Deploy #FPIT Tool: - Use the Free Point Indicator Tool to precisely locate the free point of the string. Proceed with backing off the string or cutting it from the free point. Followed by pulling out of hole (POOH) and running fishing tools. 9. Fish Bypass via #Sidetrack: - In the event of persistent sticking, the last resort might involve bypassing the stuck pipe through a sidetrack operation. ### Your Insights & Experiences? What strategies have you found effective in addressing stuck pipe scenarios?
