When I started working at the Chicago Public Schools in 2009, A Nation at Risk was still a common topic of conversation. This read is a long one, but it highlights the complexities of making impactful shifts in education, a decentralized system that relies not just on leaders or those working in the district itself, but those being served by the district, those working adjacent to the district, and those working toward the same goals as the district. It provides a great case study in change management for a heavily matrixed organization, where stakeholder needs and wants are often not aligned and sometimes in direct contradiction of one another. #education #changemanagement #equityineducation #urbaneducation #leadership #matrixedorganization #organizationalculture #organizationaldevelopment #communityengagement #governance https://lnkd.in/gABszbx4
