Last week our Enactus Australia CEO, Selena Griffith GAICD FEAD FSSE FIH, alongside a handful of other Australian education, government, and industry leaders, participated in a round table discussing the value and impact of non-formal education opportunities for young people. Peter Kaye AM ESM facilitated a robust discourse with invitees and HRH Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh. Highlights were the exchange of ideas between the participants to drive forward positive outcomes for young people, and witnessing first-hand the passion of HRH for The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award - Australia. Selena came away with a large bundle of notes rich with ideas, possibilities, and challenges to solve. Some of these included : How might we prepare young people for the future work world even where we do not know what that may be? How might we develop critical thinking skills and a lifelong passion for new knowledge? How might we collaborate across networks locally and globally to increase opportunities across all levels of society to elevate young people's voices? How might we contribute to the development of the 'whole person'? How might we embrace the myriad learning preferences and create pathways for young people to excel? A wonderful end-of-year list to ponder over our summer break and consider how we do this collaboratively. Thank you, Anthony Matis and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand for your continued support. We value our partners and collaborators because alone we may go fast but together we go further, longer, and with more impact. Enactus Australia is always looking for partners who share our passion for #youthempowerment through #leadershipdevelopment and #socialenterprise

Integrating Design, Innovation, Education, Entrepreneurship to deliver Social Impact - educator, public speaker, impact advocate

Take a look at a new thought piece we are sharing on our website and here on LinkedIn and let us know what you think! In this inaugural post, Dr. Frank Boyd, vice president in our Higher Education Practice, explores the critical role that collaboration plays in successful fundraising initiatives. "Come Together: The Necessity of Collaboration in Fundraising for Higher Education,” highlights the increasing pressures on colleges and universities and the commensurate effort to identify extramural funding to supplement endowment and tuition revenue. Why are some institutions successful in their efforts to secure external funding? Check out the blog post here to find out more: https://lnkd.in/e4Nwq_TT Let's connect and continue the conversation! Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below. 🌟 Dr. Catherine Pozniak 🌍 United States of America 🎓 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) ‘02 💼 Primary and Secondary Education Finance / Public Education Officer, U.S. Army Reserve Dr Cate Pozniak is a dedicated educational professional with a diverse career. She currently serves as a Civil Affairs Officer in the United States Army Reserve. Catherine's extensive experience includes leadership roles in education and non-profit organizations, such as Teach For America and the State of Louisiana, showcasing her commitment to educational equity and community development. What was unique about your University of Sydney experience? Arriving in Sydney with just two duffle bags and no connections, I found a home at Sancta Sophia College for three years. Over 25 years, the friendships formed there have endured despite our diverse global paths and successes, uniting us through our time at Sydney Uni and college. How did your studies at the University of Sydney prepare you for your career? My degree from Sydney Uni laid the foundation for my MPhil at Cambridge and later my doctorate at Harvard. My choice of career, however, has been fuelled by the knowledge that not every child has access to high-quality educational opportunities – and too often for reasons that have nothing to do with intellectual ability and everything to do with systemic barriers and biases. After I returned to the U.S., I joined Teach For America and taught on the Rosebud Lakota Sioux Reservation in South Dakota, starting my journey to addressing educational inequity. What do you see as the major threat or opportunity to your industry in the future? Over the past three years, I've focused on the billions of federal pandemic relief dollars the U.S. dedicated to address the effects of the pandemic on education. These funds will end next year, but the path to recovery remains long, especially for vulnerable students. This will test whether we can sustain recent innovations and permanently shift our educational model to meet the demands (and challenges) of the 21st Century. Educational inequity extends beyond the U.S., persisting globally due to various disruptions. We must raise awareness and nurture leaders dedicated to global educational equity. 🛠 Local solutions to local issues. 🏫 That was the dominant message coming out of the Seattle University (SU) Conversations series with the newly elected members of the Seattle City council, earlier this week. 💡 Expectations are high for the city council in Seattle, which for the first time in nearly a century has six new members concurrently. I had the chance to listen in on the new city council's governance initiatives and how local leaders can tackle the concerns and issues their districts and the city face. 🔗 Learn more about events hosted by the Department of Public Affairs and Nonprofit Leadership: https://lnkd.in/gfHtrZRz #seattleu #seattleuniversity #publicpolicy #localissues #localgovernment #localgov #seattle #citymanagement #publicadministration #publicadmin
