The gender wage gap is well-known, but this gap also deserves attention: Out-of-pocket healthcare costs for employed women in the U.S. are estimated to be $15 billion higher per year than for employed men, according to a Deloitte analysis. Today on International Day of Action for Women's Health, Talkspace, Labcorp’s Ovia Health, along with Conceive , Evernow, FitOn, Nurx from Thirty Madison, Cove, and Nutrium announced the formation of the Women’s Health Coalition for Digital Solutions to deliver accessible, affordable solutions to address women's diverse health needs. Together we are committed to amplifying each others’ efforts to expand access to women-centered healthcare resources, and that includes educating employers on how to best support their female employees.

Today, Synchrony and PYMNTS published some truly enlightening data on women’s health and wellness. The “2024 Women’s Wellness Index” highlights the key areas where women’s wellness is being deprioritized, often to the detriment of women’s health. This insightful piece from the Corporate Advisor shares recent research from AXA Health and the Centre of Economic and Business Research, in which they outline the true cost of ignoring women's health issues in organizations... £20 billion per year! The researchers outline several ways businesses can curb these losses and improve their targeted support for women's wellbeing. According to the Hologic Global Women’s Health Index, an annual survey that explores female wellbeing around the world, UK women are sadder and more stressed out than their counterparts in the EU. Of the 79,000 women surveyed across 143 countries, 32 per cent of British women felt sadness the previous day ‘compared with 26 per cent of women in the EU. Compared with 2020, feelings of worry, sadness, stress and anger had all increased for women in the UK — whereas in Europe, such feelings have stayed the same since 2020 or improved slightly. Experts have blamed the backslide in wellbeing on the UK’s comparative lack of progress in women’s healthcare over the last three years, while other countries had “leapfrogged” ahead. Tim Simpson, of Hologic UK and Ireland, a medical technology company, said that the findings were a “call for action and improvement”. “The latest data reveals women’s health in the UK remains unchanged, with no improvement measured over the past three years,” he said. There are other potential reasons for this decrease in women's happiness and an increase in women's stress. The cost of living crisis disproportionately affects women, who tend to be paid less and face greater job insecurity. In many ways, the problems seem to have been more pronounced here than in Europe. The inflation rate climbed higher, as did energy prices, which also took longer to fall than they did in mainland Europe. Previous research from the charity Mind found that 74 per cent of women in England and Wales feel that their mental health has been negatively impacted by the rising cost of living. https://lnkd.in/ervhKadB
