🎉 The Paris Cyber Summit just turned five, and I had the privilege of attending for the fourth time. Thank you Sébastien Garnault and team. This year felt uniquely special! Despina Spanou's keynote resonated with me, emphasizing the need to "implement & protect." This theme permeated every panel discussion, bringing a technical and operational focus that highlighted real-world challenges and solutions. Key highlights: On a law enforcement and PPP panel facilitated by Pavlina Pavlova, @Mastercard's Michael Lashlee, CISSP shared their global collaboration efforts with law enforcement, leveraging Cyber Ranges and physical fusion centers for innovative training. @Moody's Leroy Terrelonge III discussed how field trips to the FBI have enhanced their analysts' ability to assess cyber risks impacting financial stability. The initiative "No More Ransom (https://lnkd.in/eWqEd8gb) showcased the power of collaboration between law enforcement and IT security companies to combat cybercrime. With the *NIS2 directive* in its transposition period, panelists Florian Pennings, Peter Sund Luigi REBUFFI Liudas Alisauskas shared valuable experiences and expectations. Four common success factors for implementation emerged: 1) Transparent communication on applicable standards. 2) Clear articulation of business benefits—framing is key! 3) Incentives to lower analysis and assessment costs, encouraging investment in implementation. 4) Cross-EU sharing to ensure harmonization and support, especially crucial for smaller organizations looking to expand within the EU. Lastly, it is always about the people. Getting a yearly update about Austrian foreign policy from Michael Zinkanell is a highlight. Meeting new friends from US Eva Benn, CISSP, CEH, CCSP, Security Plus, GIAC x5 and creating some Reels together is a special way of showing trust and vibing together. It was very exciting to see more stakeholders from Germany in France. Kudos to Dr. Holger Mühlbauer from IT Security Association Germany (TeleTrusT) for partnering with their French counterparts ACN - Alliance pour la Confiance Numérique. Nils Karn with the start-up Mitigant from my hometown Potsdam <3, and meeting Eva Maria Andrea Stelzmüller giving me a reason to visit Munich again soon. 🍻That Sébastien Garnault makes sure there is local brewed beer is one of the reasons I come back every year. ;) I'm excited for more opportunities to connect Europeans in the future.
