Lesson of the day: When building a startup you literally learn something new everyday. Depending on what you learn about yourself or the business you need to pivot and adapt very quickly. Sometimes it is not that easy and you hold onto to something for too long. This happened to me in regards to our company's visuals. The visuals of our company was something that I personally liked and thought looked cool. As I got more feedback from our internal teams and spoke to more experts in the industry it turns out what I liked was not what worked best for our brand. As much as it stings to hear you are wrong, instead of fighting it, you need to adapt and lean on the people who know what they are talking about. With that being said, I am so happy to announce that we have hired Utendahl Creative to elevate our brand visuals. Stay tuned to see the new colors, fonts and designs of First Round's On Me. #startup #growth #changeisgood

Amazing article by Fortune and Sydney Lake, about why Gen Z is rebelling against dating apps. 1. They're a ‘wasteland’ "the apps have become increasingly reminiscent of other social media platforms like Instagram where users are more concerned about curating the right photos and written responses than about representing themselves in an authentic way." 2. Overly sexualized themes "“If you want pics, go on OnlyFans and pay for that,”. 3. Paying for apps "f I’d paid for a month of online dating, “I would like to think that I've met somebody that I could at least be dating monogamously,” Mason says. “Okay, I might not end up marrying the guy and I might come back to the app to find the next one, but I don't want to pay for three months." 4. Return to meeting IRL “I don’t want to just be chatting people online,” Mason says. “I don’t want a penpal.” “They were either sick of the apps or [said it’s] just a novel way to meet someone that's not available to them every day.” This is the big point for First Round's On Me, already leading the way for in-person interactions and a more genuine intentional way of using the app as bridge not as another social media platform. #datingapps #bumble #tinder #hinge #startups #dating https://lnkd.in/gUcEBiHB

Great article by @magdalene j tay Great article by Magdalene Taylor , here are my favorites parts that show the value of an app like First Round's On Me "What’s worsening isn’t just the technological experience of online dating but also our ability to form meaningful, lasting connections offline." "We’ve distorted our understanding of how we’d organically pair up — and forgotten how to actually meet people in the process." "New in-person dating meet-up opportunities and the return of speed dating events suggests app fatigue is spreading. Maybe we’ll start meeting at bars again — rather than simply swiping through the apps while holding a drink." #datingapps #dating https://lnkd.in/gRnpP4PD
