Communication is key!
In HR, clear communication is key. To ensure employees are actually receiving information, you need to reach them where they are. Trust me, no one wants to access a different system or go out of their way to access an HR message. So how do you do this? It is important to remember that not all companies (or teams within those companies) communicate in the same way. Some are slack/instant messaging cultures. Some are email cultures. Some are intranet site cultures. Some use different methods for different purposes. Because of this, you need to understand how your employees are using their day-to-day tools. Spend the time with your leaders understanding how their teams work. Talk to your employees and ask for feedback about the channels in which you are sharing HR information. Codify how your company communicates, so that you can share it with new hires and make it easy for them to access the information they need. Without understanding how your employees communicate, regardless of how well crafted a message is, it may get lost in the shuffle. Clear communication is just as much about the form in which the message is delivered, as it is the message itself. With so much information competing for attention, removing barriers is key! #communication #hr #leadership

🎄🎁💡 Day 7: One Question to Ask Your Team 💡🎁🎄 On our seventh day of HR Insights, HR Manager Fraser Sked has proposed a thoughtful question that leaders should ask their teams to improve communication within an organisation. "I would ask 'What can we change to ensure the way we communicate to each other is as effective as possible?'. When supporting and advising clients, the biggest challenge we see regarding communication, is whether or not it is actually effective communication. A lot of this is down to managers and/or teams not being aware of what their, or their team’s, best communication style and/or methods are or how their people prefer to receive communication. Overcoming this first hurdle can go a long way to remedying any perceived communication issues. In many cases companies have channels and opportunities for communication in place, but have never reviewed these or asked the employees if they are effective of if they are the best methods for what levels of communication they are looking to achieve. Due to the increase in remote working, in-person communication has decreased over the past few years, meaning employees may be relying on communicating via email or typing messages on Teams or Slack etc. as their main source of communication. As we all know, tone in written communication can be difficult to determine, so we would recommend reviewing communication methods to ensure messages are landing as desired and your teams have the appropriate avenues to share their views and work updates etc." Thank you Fraser, this is great advice! #HR #Employees #Communication #12DaysofHRInsights
