Patrick Tucker of Defense One takes an indepth look at a complex question of "US Army has big visions for its hyperconnected forces of the #future." especially as United States Department of Defense work with coalition partners in U.S. Indo-Pacific Command. He brings together senior official views from USSOCOM to Army Acquisition-ASA(ALT) and points out "if #data can be secured independent of the network it travels on, that could enable the Army to use a much wider variety of systems, from commercial networks to #military gear." Two quotes from his story really lays out the issues: * BG Kevin Meisler, Commander of 311th Signal Command: "we have to be very resilient or redundant to make sure that if something does happen in one area, we can quickly switch to another.” * Margaret Palmieri, Deputy Chief digital and #ArtificialIntelligence (AI) officer at the DoD Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office: "what we've trained an AI algorithm on in the past is not necessarily what it’s going to see going forward. A tank looks like different whole versus blown up. And so the confidence levels will change as the algorithms interact with their environment." The Office for Veterans' Affairs has published it's August 6 Monthly Report on 'Strategy For Our Veterans' covering their progress since January. Key Information: ● 87% of veterans were in employment within six months of leaving service.  ● 66% of employers are interested in having more veterans in their organisation. ● £8.55 million has been invested in establishing specialist help to more than 1,300 veterans across over 900 supported housing units. ● The OVA will publish a women veterans’ strategy in 2024, which will examine the specific needs and challenges faced by more than 235,000 women veterans. The Government's Veteran Strategy presents a decade-long outlook for veterans and their families, aimed at helping them smoothly shift into civilian life and play an active role in a society that recognizes and appreciates their valuable contributions. The OVA intends to deliver biannual updates consistently by issuing the Armed Forces Covenant and Veterans annual report, scheduled for release later this year.
