Reflecting on WISE Week 6, I was able to schedule an introductory meeting for my upcoming internship! As I await for my internship to begin, I researched the renowned Alexei Navalny and his controversial death/murder in Russia. It was inspiring and meaningful to learn more about the life and impact of the oppositionist leader to Putin over the last few decades. With this research, I created a mock news article regarding Navalny’s life and journey with resistance and activism. Marilee Mero

Summer 2023 Internship with Bell Flight Calvin Freeman II - MBA Candidate, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University This summer, I had the privilege of working as a Strategic Sourcing Supply Chain Management Intern at Bell Flight in Fort Worth, Texas, a subsidiary of Textron. I was responsible for facilitating long-term contract agreements that included project planning, proposal requests, bid analysis, and supplier contract negotiations. Thrilled to share a glimpse of my journey with SAIC, marking my second internship with this incredible team. Included is a snap of me and Brandon Landers working hard on the final touches of our summer internship- and totally not posing for the camera. __ Reflecting on my time here, I've gathered invaluable lessons that have reshaped my approach to work and personal growth: Embrace Connection 🤝: Engaging in conversations with everyone around you opens up a world of learning. The diversity of thought and experience within SAIC has been a wellspring of knowledge. Leverage Your Skills 💼 : Initially, a technical project seemed daunting due to my limited background. However, I discovered that my skills in graphic design, presentation, and writing were not just applicable but instrumental in contributing to our project's success. This experience taught me the "power of adaptability" and the importance of integrating one's strengths in new environments. Step Into Challenges 🚀: Facing a new role can be intimidating, and it's easy to feel under-qualified. Despite some hesitations, diving into this internship has been one of my best decisions. It's a reminder that stepping out of your comfort zone is where growth happens. It's Okay to Be Curious 🤔: Being an intern means you're in the learning phase, and it's perfectly fine to not have all the answers.
