"Once you start to see reflected light, you can't unsee it." Explore an enlightening conversation between Gaffer Justyn T. Davis, Key Grip Ted Lehane, and Jakob Ballinger as they delve into the intricacies of reflected lighting and its profound implications in the art of cinematography. Their discussion centers on the innovative lighting techniques employed in illuminating the Apple TV + drama "Dear Edward," where the absence of conventional lighting fixtures necessitated a creative utilization of every available surface: From buildings to pianos, floors to walls, each element played a crucial role in shaping the visual narrative, augmented by a diverse array of tools including CRLS, custom-made reflective surfaces, checkerboards, beadboards, and muslins. This masterclass showcases a meticulous study of naturalistic lighting, born from a profound understanding of light's behavior in reality, offering invaluable insights for aspiring cinematographers. 🚁 This recent incident highlights the intersection we are at in enabling #advancedairmobility (AAM) 🌐 and respecting #community interests. It underscores the challenge of developing regulations that not only champion innovation 🚀 but also carefully consider the voices and safety of communities, particularly non-participating bystanders. This calls for a unique blend of #aviation expertise ✈️ and local input 👥. In many communities, there is an opportunity to craft regulations that are co-created, involving aviation experts, industry proponents, community members, local authorities, and emergency responders 🤝. By engaging diverse perspectives, we can ensure that new policies don't just address technical feasibility but also resonate with safety considerations and community needs. Incidents like this, while understandably frustrating for many, highlights an opportunity to set a precedent for #AAM integration... to foster a culture of dialogue, anchored in mutual respect between innovators and the communities they seek to serve. Exploring options for specific ordinances might include temporary landing permits, zoning for by-right heliport or drone port development, areas requiring conditional use permits, and defining where helicopter operations should generally be avoided, except in emergency situations. An open dialogue can provide a structured yet flexible framework 🛠️. These considerations are crucial for creating a future where innovation thrives in harmony with public interest 💡🤝. Finally, and maybe most importantly... outreach and engagement takes time, money, and other resources. In an ecosystem where infrastructure is privately developed, who is responsible for what? Is outreach being properly budgeted into industry led efforts? When I helped teach a Military Airspace Management Course, outreach consisted of publishing an ad in the public notice section of the newspaper and/or posting notices in local grocery stores. This often led to a single meeting that would be summarized in a much larger environmental study where community perspectives were often lost or downplayed. Proper outreach deserves much more. Communities deserve more. Don't look up - 99% The share of the U.S. population covered by an airplane imagery program run by the Geospatial Insurance Consortium. Insurance companies are deploying drones, manned airplanes and high-altitude balloons to take images of homes—part of an effort to ditch properties seen as higher risk. The photos are then sorted by computer models that spot underwriting no-nos, such as damaged roof shingles, yard debris, overhanging tree branches and undeclared pools or trampolines https://lnkd.in/e2TnPBPz
