I got myself into a bit of a Heinz hole last week (not literally). On finding out that Henry Heinz was a culture pioneer and food activist, I did some deeper digging into what we now know as Kraft Heinz and their rich history. 👬 Both brands Kraft and Heinz started with a mission to help people. Coming from immigrant families they nurture a culture of diversity and inclusion throughout their brands. As we all know this as a guiding part of culture is a huge part of what has driven their success to date. 🍴 Krafts innovative method of pasteurising cheese led them to feeding the US troops throughout WW1. Similarly Heinz provided food aid to the UK during WW2. 🏭 Heinz pioneered the movement behind the pure food and drug act which upheld the standards in manufacturing that we see today. (Did you know that Heinz were the first company to create a clear bottle for condiments?! A great marketing ploy that emphasised that they know what's in their sauce) ⏳ Few FMCG business we know and love today outlast Kraft-Heinz in tenure. Brands like Campbell's, Kellogg Company and Quaker Oats (PepsiCo) are just a few others that started in the late 1800's and have stood the test of time. Being able to alter your marketing to the ever changing consumer needs for over 120 years is both inspirational and aspirational - we should all be taking notes 📝 #kraftheinz #marketing #teamculture

🌟 One Month Update at McCain Foods!🌟 It is hard to believe that it is already a month since I joined McCain Foods. Time really does fly when having fun and learning new things! This past month has been an incredible journey of learning, growth, exciting new experiences and exploring the world of potatoes and appetizers! Here are my key highlights so far 📍 📌Discovering the Business: From day one, I have been immersed in the rich culture, dynamic environment of McCain Foods and the uniqueness of our products. Understanding the intricacies of our operations has also been fascinating! Learning about our innovative practices in sustainability and our commitment to quality has been truly inspiring. By the way, Did you know that McCain is the world leading in frozen potato products? 🥔 👩🏾🏭Plant Visits: One of the exciting highlights of my first month was visiting our plants in Europe, 4 done and many more to go! Seeing the process from farm to fork has given me a profound appreciation for the dedication and craftsmanship that goes into every product. Meeting the teams on the ground and witnessing their passion for excellence has been a rewarding and humbling experience. 📈Team Building: I had the pleasure of meeting and now working with an incredibly talented group of individuals within our cross functional HR teams. Our TA team is diverse, driven, and brimming with potential! Together, we are focused on building a robust talent acquisition strategy that aligns with the vision and goals of McCain Foods and I couldn’t be more excited to shape a team that will bring in the best talent to continue driving McCain’s success. 🥳Fun and Engagement: The past month has not just been all work and no play! From getting to know different individuals and teams to engaging in local regional events, there’s never a dull moment at McCain Foods. We have celebrated wins, shared stories, and had a lot of laughs along the way. We just released our 2023 half-year results – reaching +8.4% like-for-like sales growth, supported by resilient volume/mix and continued pricing, with all categories and geographies contributing. This is thanks to all the strong efforts done by the teams to streamline and simplify our portfolio, reinvest efficiently behind our brands, and unlock efficiency gains. It is great to see these efforts paying off across zones! In Europe we have delivered a solid net sales increase at +6.4% in the first semester driven by waters and Specialized Nutrition. On EDP, we are progressing with the transformation of our portfolio and reinvestments on our brands and we expect volume dynamics to recover sequentially. In China, North Asia and Oceania, we sustained our strong growth momentum with +12.4% sales increase, with positive volume and mix. This is the result of a strong winning-share performance of our SN business but also a positive turnaround of our Mizone brand in China. Finally, in the Rest of the world zone, sales increased by +7.7% notably driven by double digit growth of our Specialized Nutrition business across markets, while we are continuing our EDP portfolio optimization in Africa. In business, our focus around #customerexperience is only ever as good as our #peopleexperience. If we look after our people, they will look after our customers #userexperience. To do this, we can just leave it to chance. We need to take people along with us. BUT it can hard. We need to arm them with tools that strengthen their engagements. BUT it can be hard.
