If you were “working” during our #Config2024 announcements, here’s everything new → UI3, a redesigned Figma → Figma AI (Make Design, Make Prototype, Visual Search, Replace Content, Rename Layers) → Figma Slides → Dev Mode updates (Ready for Dev View, Focus View, More Statuses) → Code Connect is out of beta (!!) → Auto Layout improvements → Responsive Prototyping Viewer → UI Kits (Including Apple iOS and Material 3!) inside Figma → FigJam Pages https://lnkd.in/gU4r9fe

Don’t understand why everyone is so excited here. The announcement is disappointing. You’ve done nothing for general designers and smaller companies working within Figma and it’s become apparent you’re just chasing revenue streams rather than catering to your core user base. Variables are a mess. We can’t even search them. Text variables aren’t auto updating in text styles and need reapplying. We can’t use percentages. We can’t use basic math for creating type and colour scales. Prototyping is still super basic compared to the myriad of other tools out there now. You had a real opportunity to improve upon it this config. Seems like AI features are being prioritised over improving the core because everything has to have that AI buzzword now. Again, there will be a cost. Just like dev features being paywalled behind an almost £40p/m “dev seat” which for the most part offers nothing of import, especially to those of us not working in-house or on large products with large teams. The new UI I can take or leave. I had no trouble focusing on my work with the existing one. I’ve never once thought “I wish I could see what I’m working on with less UI framing around it.”

Designers; If you think your CFO is ‘excited about giving you more tools to explore ideas’ rather than ‘great, our PM’s can preform 50% of what a designer used to tackle’ then I want what you’re having.

Jokes aside (we have few good ones here) Figma announced today the start of the death of UI specialist designers. If you can't bring more value with More tools in your professional offering you will not survive against the machines

The auto renaming of layer is a killer addition! Also, really excited to use the Figma Slides!

The one thing here that interests the most is AI for autorenaming my layers 😅😅
