As a former PhD student in fluid dynamics metrology, I'll always have a sweet spot for fluid simulation, especially wind tunnels... That's probably why I've been experimenting on and off, for more than 2 years now, with realtime fluid sim in AR. My first experiment (https://lnkd.in/etWCXGBS) demonstrated the concept, but it wasn't physically based at all. Since then, I've tried more tools and approaches, and recently got to try ZibraAI. While we're not in Ansys territory as perfect simulation accuracy is not in scope (and won't be achievable in realtime on mobile anytime soon), I finally found in ZibraiAI a tool for realistic realtime fluid simulation -liquids, combustion and smoke- that is physics-backed and can run decently on mobile devices. This is by far the best result/performance ratio I could achieve on a mobile platform. This allowed me to integrate it with Vuforia, a PTC Technology and update my older demo, bringing it to whole other level with real-time volumetric smoke and particles (driven by the sim, to better visualize the flow) reacting in realtime to the flow orientation and the various meshes I'm placing into it. Another perk is that ZibraAI takes care of authoring the SDF collider for the meshes automatically, from the editor. I have yet to explore all the possibilities of flow/sim control that the plugin offers but I remain impressed by what I could achieve by hacking at it over a couple of days. I'm sure there are many more educational/interactive AR use cases to be built around such a tool if accuracy of the simulation is not your main objective. #ptc #vuforia #ar #augmentedreality #tracking #unity #vuforia #objecttracking #computervision #education #fluidsim #fluiddynamics #fluidmechanics #windtunnel #aerodynamics #CAD #lego #digital #industrial #engineering #smartfactory #iot #digitaltwin #technologyinnovation #3d #automotive

Amazing. Thanks for sharing. Florent Germain could you suggest what path to take to incorporate something similar with the real-time 3D-PTV measurements we promote?

Super cool. I remember a project a while back where the fire department for a large EU city wanted to have physics based smoke dynamics viewed through AR for training. They wanted to make it possible for fire fighters to walk in a room with an augmented fire source to understand how the smoke would intersect with the ‘physical’ environment. Was impossible back then but I can see how this might start getting you to that point, especially where ANSYS level precision is not required.

Thanks for sharing Florent Germain. This is so promising to open up many avenues for physically correct real-time simulations. What is that white sheet in front of the model?

Amazing ..can save lots of time and money. Even it can be blessing for students, enthusiasts who dont have access to those labs

Great result 🔥

How can we evaluate this output - how accurate it is- 😄

Looks truly spectacular! It’s a pleasure to see such a cool application of our real-time simulation in AR! 🙌🏻

wild! Nice work! Is it available to download/install anywhere?
