Croke park v Lansdowne road…? Like Irish unity there’s a thought you’d think might never happen. However, money always talks. It could solve a lot of problems- 1. Athmosphere “Compared with the regular Six Nations crowd, the World Cup attendees were younger and more boisterous, drawn from across the spectrum of sports. When it comes to spring, many of those supporters find themselves locked out by the model that sees the union distribute their tickets through the clubs, who often bundle at least some of them and sell them to corporate entities and travel companies. The income they generate funds the sport at a local level, but an additional capacity would allow the union to investigate ways to tap into the latent interest from the World Cup” Enjoyment- It will stop the boozers in the stands destroying the enjoyment of the others. Far more can attend. Money- It would generate a lot more, and perish the thought, the IRFU might even reduce prices to encourage real fans. So how about leaving the RDS and Lansdowne road? Allow Leinster use it. The GAA use it. More Concerts. As the IRFU don’t really care about their Patrons once they get their money that won’t be an issue. They side step a changing culture towards boozing.

Scottie Scheffler has been through a lot these past couple of months, but keeps on persevering and setting records! He is spending some time off the course investing in the Texas Ranchers pickleball team. I hope to see more of his business endeavors soon! #entrepreneur #business #golf #pga #investments
Scottie Scheffler has won The Memorial Tournament, taking home the $4 million first-place prize. That means Scheffler has officially set a new single-season PGA Tour earnings record for the third straight year. 2022: $14 million 2023: $21 million 2024: $24 million Even crazier, there are still 3+ months left in the season. This guy is on an entirely different planet right now. #sports #linkedinsports #sportsbiz

Irish Rugby.. Watching the Glasgow Warriors last night and this article it raised some questions and the need for some home truths- “Irish rugby has everything in place to be the most aligned rugby system in the world, yet there are clear signs that it’s been sorely lacking over the past four-year cycle and a lack of depth in key positions was obvious in Paris last October“ There are then questions around the IRFU’s crude commercialisation of the game alienating long standing supporters. Over hyping. Terrible athmosphere. It’s attitude to a range of issues from alcohol, concussion, gender and human rights. Does Irish rugby really challenge under performance on and off the field which should come with its new found commercialisation or is it still an old boys club albeit one the Irish tax payer subsidies? It’s true there’s excessive demand on tired players and poorer rugby but the golden period we have enjoyed in recent years may not last without the type of serious self reflection which preceded the professional era and which the IRFU is to be applauded for. Rugby is about more than money. Glasgow’s victory, a team with far less investment and hype than Leinster, really brought this out.

Capability Lead with vast Executive Level Coaching experience, Specialising in Leadership and Management Capability, Diversity & Inclusion, Change Leadership and Building Functional Talent, Quality and Standards.
Regional Rugby in Ireland works because historically Ireland has been devided regionally. In NZ they have also been historically regional, in Scotland the Highlands and Lowlands etc... In Wales we have always been tribal (one valley will never support another), and as a result regions have never worked. It could be argued we should have gone with the 9 club option. 3 clubs west, 3 east and 3 in the centre. Supporters would have come out of the woodwork to support their valley or city. Arguably the crowds are woeful because people do not identify with the regional sides. Grassroots rugby is also too far removed from the regions. Does someone in Pontypridd identify with Cardiff? Perhaps the WRU need to rethink rugby in Wales or it may continue to decline. 🏴🏴🏴🏴

Mr. Card - Without WATER, people die. POTABLE WATER is more important than pickle ball courts! "You've got to have pickle ball. There's 34 million people playing it, so we've changed our model a little bit. We're putting in 20 pickle ball courts. We're going to be at the cutting edge of that" - Andrew Card https://lnkd.in/gPc55R3H Sharing from the article by Gary Daughters "Groundwork is Laid There’s a widely accepted theory that IEDC chose Lebanon for the LEAP District based not only on the availability of a big chunk of land, but also on Boone County’s growth curve and its proximity to both Indianapolis and Purdue, which spins out waves of ideas and talent. Interstate 65 is a major plus. Another advantage Lebanon enjoys going in is being a public power community. Indiana Municipal Power Agency provides the City of Lebanon with low-cost, reliable and environmentally responsible wholesale power, a proven boon for major projects. Andrew Card believes there was still more to it than that. Card, founder and CEO of Indianapolis-based Card & Associates, is the unofficial impresario of Lebanon’s future, having partnered with Mayor Gentry on a far-flung, $400 million development called Hickory Junction on prime property bordering I-65. “I’ve been working on this for four years,” Card tells Site Selection, “and they knew what I was doing. They also knew about all the residential that’s going in. I believe that’s one of the reasons they chose Boone County for the LEAP District.” From his office in Indianapolis, the irrepressible Card confirms that, yes, he is not former White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card, “depending,” he laughs, “on who I need to get on the phone.” When Card proposes youth sports as Lebanon’s ticket, it’s no laughing matter. With a solid track record and reams of data to back him up, he’s projecting that his $115 million, 270,000-sq.ft. multisport Field House will bring at least 60,000 people to Lebanon each month, and quite possibly many more. “Sports tourism has gone crazy,” Card tells Site Selection. “We had a lot of steam already, and then coming out of COVID it’s like it shot out of a cannon. Before COVID,” he says, “sports tourism was probably a $32 billion industry and now it’s past $49 billion, and I don’t see any end in sight.” https://lnkd.in/gpQjeMmu
