Did you know that #HighPressureProcessing plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of raw pet food? Before their domestication, dogs and cats consumed crude food in the wild. Their digestive tract is adapted to raw meat, various offal and bones. This explains why many experts recommend a raw food diet for dogs and cats. Biologically Appropriate Raw Feeding (BARF) has gained popularity as a natural and nutritious diet for our furry companions. However, it can pose health risks due to potential contamination with harmful pathogens. #HPP effectively eliminates these pathogens, making BARF pet food safer for pets and their owners. It preserves the taste, nutrients, and natural appearance of the food without the need for chemical additives. Discover more about our HPP solutions at Uhde's website and ensure the well-being of your four-legged friends.🐾 #thyssenkrupp #Uhde #highpressureprocessing #HPP #BARF #PetFood

Axon Pulse: Contaminated Products Edition A brand of dog food tested positive for Salmonella. Salmonella can infect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products. Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. 🚨 Urgent Pet Food Recall Alert 🚨 🐾 Attention all pet owners!🐶 I wanted to bring your attention to a recent pet food recall and its serious health risks. As an avid listener of our podcast, Don't Eat POOP! A Food Safety Podcast: you may already be aware of this alarming situation, but it's crucial to shed more light on it. 👶🏻🤢 Thus far, there have been at least seven documented illnesses and one hospitalization tied to the dog food in seven states. Because many salmonella cases go unreported, the actual number of cases may be higher, according to the CDC. Six of the seven illnesses involve children under one year of age. 🦴 Unfortunately, several pet food brands have been involved in this recall, and I discovered that two of the types from the same brand I was using for my own dogs were affected. To make matters worse, I wasn't even aware when my dogs started feeling unwell recently. When we recorded the podcast, I saw images of the bags of dog food. Today, I received an update from Chewy about the recall, with explicit instructions on how to dispose of the dog/puppy food, clean dishes, toys, etc. 🤯 In my case, because I already knew these things were already taken care of, but what if you don't use Chewy? What if you don't read Food Safety News? No one from Tractor Supply called, and we don't use their website (we are in their system). 👉🏻 Our pets and our children are getting sick. Who knows how many or to what extent? 💣 We need better recall systems. My pets were already sick. I received this notice five days after I threw the product away. This is pet food (which is making people sick), but our human food recall procedures are no better. Communication with the people who purchase recalled products - voluntary or not is severely lacking and needs to be improved. ➡️ Please be aware that your pets' (and your) health could be at risk if you use any of the affected products. I strongly encourage you to be vigilant and ensure their food is safe and free from harmful contaminants. Remember, their well-being (as well as your family's) is in your hands! https://lnkd.in/g2km6Q7Q https://lnkd.in/gS8j7ZgW Matthew Regusci #Recall #Recalls #Outbreak #Salmonella #DogFood #PublicHealth #FDA #CDC #Chewy
