Why #invest in the #AI healthcare industry? 🩺 AI is able to #optimise processes within the healthcare industry by rendering the medical staff more productive through more accurate and faster diagnosis, better and more efficient patient treatments, as well as taking the admin burden off their shoulders. 📈 Consequently, the AI #healthcare market was valued at $16 billion in 2022 and is expected to grow 40.2% annually to reach $173.5 billion by 2029. This is due to the fact that it could lead to 10% in savings in the US healthcare industry, which represents up to $360 billion. By making internal processes more efficient, healthcare companies are therefore able to #service new customers, #augment their overall offering and create new revenue streams. 🔑 Patient will also benefit from having a more accessible healthcare as AI will bring down costs. By making the industry more #efficient, patients will not need to consult with as many physicians and won't have long, winded treatment plans. For example, it can cost as much as $70,000 to have a baby through IVF. AI promises to make the IVF process overall more efficient meaning couples will have a higher success rates and will not need to go through as many IVF rounds. 💸 The #VentureCapital market has started to recognise the potential AI represents in the healthcare industry. In 2023, 23% of total healthcare investment went towards companies leveraging AI, with pre-money valuations for healthcare companies leveraging AI coming in higher at seed and series A than those which did not leverage AI. #Valuations within the AI healthcare sector can be scattered but tend to stay above average. 🤝 Similarly, we have seen many corporations looking to #invest in, #partner with or #acquire AI healthcare companies. From NVIDIA partnering and investing in companies such as Abridge, CLINICAI and Artisight; as well as Microsoft acquiring Nuance Communications and Alphabet Inc. investing in the likes of Rad AI and Dyno Therapeutics. The wave of big tech companies investing into healthcare started in 2022 when Amazon bought One Medical, outbidding CVS Health. At Goddess Gaia Ventures, we back founders leading best in class ventures delivering best outcomes in Women’s health. We support diverse founders at Seed and the in-between Pre-Series A gaps where funding is needed the most in order to propel ventures into an impactful Series A. 🚀 AI Driving Growth in the FemTech Sector Amid Health Disparities The FemTech sector is experiencing a surge in growth thanks to innovations in AI, drawing attention from investors keen on technologies that tackle the health disparities between genders. McKinsey reports reveal women's extensive health challenges, suffering 25% more in terms of ill health compared to men. Marion Jeng, an associate at DAI Magister, calls for increased investment and technological progress to correct the widespread misdiagnoses and disregard in women’s healthcare. FemTech transcends fertility issues, embracing an array of companies tackling a spectrum of women’s health areas. Criticism comes from Jeng concerning a male-centric investment community which tends to neglect the FemTech promise. She advocates for business-to-consumer FemTech firms to develop robust monetization strategies and seek out strategic partnerships. There's an anticipation for heightened funding for AI tools that aim at improving the diagnosis of female-specific diseases, with notable advancements in the early detection of breast cancer. Undeniably, FemTech signifies a vast, yet not fully appreciated market opportunity, making it an attractive field for investors.
