LinkedIn's analysis of global talent trends highlights the dominance of healthcare roles among the fastest-growing jobs, with customer-facing and in-person positions also in high demand. Healthcare jobs represent six out of the top ten roles, driven by factors such as an aging population and global staffing shortages in healthcare. Specific roles like Care Specialist, Surgical Technician, and Medical Surgical Nurse are seeing significant increases in hiring. Despite the focus on healthcare, customer-facing roles like retail salesperson, store manager, and cashier remain highly sought after. Tech roles such as software engineers and full-stack engineers are also rising in demand again, indicating a swing in the market for remote-capable positions. For businesses and employers, this data suggests opportunities to attract healthcare talent by highlighting transferable skills and ensuring competitive compensation and retention efforts for tech roles. Administrative and operations roles continue to be essential, emphasizing the ongoing contributions of these positions even with advancements in AI. I really feel this in my soul. After almost two decades of work in the world of corporate learning and development, it's been hard to find a new position. It's tough to read a job description and KNOW you can do that job but automatically be disqualified because you worked in finance and this role is in tech or social media or any other area. If given the opportunity, it would be nice to broaden my horizons and learn something new. I also think it's funny to see "entry-level" jobs requiring 5+ years of experience (???) - How is that even possible?!
Qualified? Not Qualified? If a former Physician applied for a job as a Pharma Rep, they’d be considered NOT Qualified. They never sold pharmaceuticals and don’t have territory management experience. If a #1 ranked Technology Sales Executive applied for a job in sales in different industry, they’d be considered NOT Qualified. They don’t have a degree. If a former College Professor with a PhD applied for a job as an Office Manager, they’d be passed over. They’ve never managed an office. They’d be considered NOT Qualified or Over Qualified, and not get hired. Do you see how ridiculous this sounds? This is what’s happening in hiring. Every last shred of common sense, objectivity, decision making and personal insight has been eradicated from hiring. We’ve come to a place where AI, ATS and subjective skills tests have taken over. More than human interaction. More than human instinct. More than common sense. If someone with a PhD applies for a job at my company, I tell my HR guru, “get them on the phone!” I don’t care if they have resume writing or HR experience. I’m no dummy. Please stop randomly, subjectively, and stupidly eliminating candidates based on non sensical rules. Don’t be a dummy. #resumewriting #jobsearch #dontbeadummy

And when the candidate has military experience, a lot of the time there is more experience than just their direct field of work and more experience than will fit on a normal sized resume.

People Operations | HR Manager | HR Generalist | Total Rewards | Benefits Administration | Employee Relations | Multi State Payroll | Onboarding | Team Collaboration | Bookkeeper | Work Camper | Digital Nomad
Sharing this post! Obviously I have comments of my own to add. 🤨 Employers quit letting the “systems” rule the hiring process and let humans do the hiring. Let me tell you a story. I was laid off April 2022, it was a blessing, I needed a break. I have a stellar résumé. I have amazing references. I have done the work that I’m applying for. You know what I don’t have. I don’t have a degree. I don’t have a certification. What I do have is 25 years of experience doing all the things employers are looking for. You know what I hear, after submitting my resume crickets, lots and lots of crickets. I can with confidence say that I have reached out to my entire network, submitted over 1k personalized resumes, to many unnecessary cover letters. Created COUNTLESS ridiculous Workday accounts. (Why is this even a thing, that candidate experience just sucks) Still crickets. It’s all bullshit, and you know what? Some of this is my own damn fault. I helped companies put these very systems in place that are now excluding my resume from actual human review. Since April of 22, I’ve done some consulting. My sister (Keely Strong, if you know her she’s pretty badass too!) and I, we started a business, Strong Business Boost. We help small businesses with their online presence . We also provide HR consultant services and bookkeeping services. We have a handful of clients and getting more, it’s a start up and it doesn’t pay the bills. But you know what pays my bills right now? My husband’s pension (which isn’t all the much) and work camping jobs. Do you even know what a work camping job is? It’s for those of us who live full time in recreational vehicles. In our case we left the traditional behind, exactly 2yrs ago and live in a 45’ fifth wheel with all of our worldly goods, by choice! It’s actually a hell of a lot of fun. Currently, I’m on a 30 minute lunch break, on a 12 hour shift at American Crystal Sugar Company for the Sugar Beet Harvest, in East Grand Forks Minnesota. I am Piler Operator, yes I run heavy machinery! We spent 4 months this summer working on a “guest” ranch in Colorado, at 10,000’ elevation, it was beautiful. I cleaned cabins, if you’ve never been a housekeeper, try it, it is humbling. I also cleaned up several years worth of bookkeeping for the 3 businesses the owner has. Our winter plans have us in Arizona, I will be handling HR/bookkeeping/social media and an Amazon store front for an Organic Date Farm/Brewery/Restaurant. While my husband helps with the Brewery operation (he is very excited for the free beer). The point to this story. I will do anything and can do things I never thought I could (Google how big a Piler is) to make a living. The “systems” don’t know this, my wealth of experience isn’t incapsulated in a resume. But you’d know all this if you actually talked to me. Quit relying on the “systems” to find your next great hire. Because I know that the best hires are the people you actually TALK to!

Yes! The hiring system is broken. The process is so strategic on whether you fit into certain boxes but doesn't account for how well a candidate will integrate into the organization's culture which is one of the most important components that impacts the success of the employee and team. Job skills can be learned.

“The New Producer Recruiter” || Help Commercial Insurance Brokers to grow || Help B2B sales pros pivot into the best B2B sales career...that they've likely never considered
LinkedIn emailed my "Top job picks for you" this afternoon. LinkedIn's super-smart AI algorithm says: "your skills seem to match this job". Among this week's top job picks for me: #1: Carside Specialist (service the to-go customers at a local Applebees) #5: MD - Cardiologist Noninvasive I've been a self-employed sales recruiter for 12+ years. I'm bearish about being a strong fit for any W-2 job. But I'm leaning toward the cardiologist opportunity. 3-hour commute but maybe I can do full remote? And will need to persuade them to waive the MD license, fellowship training, and board certification. But, those are arbitrary requirements. What could go wrong, it's non-invasive, right? Plus, LinkedIn says I will be the first to apply so my medical career is only an "easy apply" button away. Note to anyone concerned about AI taking over recruiting from the humans: rest peacefully, it's going to take a while. #recruiting #recruitment #AImissingtheI

I had needed a thicker skin! 😑 During my job search in this market, I had developed a thicker skin. I had taught myself that being rejected does not generally mean that something is wrong with me, but they liked somebody better. After experiencing my first layoff this early in my career, I lost almost everything, because I was not ready and no one told me it would like this. With a 4 year college degree and almost about a year into the HealthTech field, then "laid off", of course I am encountering challenges, but I was not ready. I got accepted into Grad school (Health Informatics major) right around the same time, then comes another issue... should I drop out? Should I hope for the best? Well, I am still in school with a 4.0 GPA. I landed multiple interviews, two, three weeks and even two months later, received rejections " they found candidates with more years of experience than me". I am not giving up! I will get my yes and will come back with a testimony soon! 🙂 #healthit #implementations #openforwork #opentoconnect #businessanalysts #recruiting
