"#TaylorSwift is not a good role model." "At 34, Swift remains unmarried and childless ... Would any loving parent reading this want their daughter to date 12 different men in the span of just a few years?" This was a clickbait title and (opinion) article in a prominent magazine!! Not even worth commenting... One part was especially "lovely": "...While Swift's musical talent and business acumen are certainly admirable, even laudable..." Admirable? Even laudable? What a provocative understatement. Just as a reminder: being a role model is not something that can be imposed on others!! People choose their role model(s) based on personal aspirations and dreams.  Anyways, this is not about Taylor Swift, the author, or the biases and double standards in society still prevailing. More than anything, this is another "proof" there is a 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗺 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 - 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲. And not everybody is happy about it... Our world is changing for the better. Happy Women's Day We speak about equality - but how can we have that, if a women who speaks up, is considered aggressive and unfeminine? If a woman who simply does her job, is considered bossy or controlling? We can use politically correct wording - but do we act accordingly? Let's celebrate those women, who dare to be unfeminine in the sense they don't need a man to put food on the table, because they're capable of doing that themselves, they don't need a man, to buy them presents, because it may mean that there's something expected in return, they simply want a man as a partner, as good company, for happiness not for support. In such partnership, a man can thrive as much as a woman can, because there's no interdependency but personal growth. Wow! What an incredible webinar I was just on Chaired by Rebecca (Beks) Hourston, Women's Leadership Coach and also led by Zoë Kibbey and Nimisha Overton Thank you so much to Mark Baker FRSA for creating the space to make it happen. Ladies, I can't thank you enough, it was so inspiring to be in a space where a conversation took place not just about women, but actually equality and equity for all. Topics included gender fatigue, the motherhood penalty, paternity leave, gender parity, allyship, psych safety - and creating a culture where ALL can thrive. I'm not sure how so much ground got covered in 50 minutes! 😅 It saddened me when you said that an 18 year old woman entering the workforce today will not see equal pay in her lifetime. But, we have to keep taking action, keep having conversations and keep climbing up that mountain. Questions we need to ask of ourselves and the businesses we run or work in: - What can YOU do about this? - What ARE you doing to make a difference? - What ACTION can you take?
