At the root of all exceptional software is empathy. Empathy for your future self = easily maintainable code. Empathy for client applications = an ergonomic API. Empathy for the end user = an intuitive UX. Forsake empathy, and you won't just struggle to build relationships with coworkers. You'll also fail to build an incredible product.

I enjoy minor product improvements, like adding a task to a checklist in view mode when it was only possible after hitting "edit checklist" before. It's nothing that customers explicitly ask for. Our team found that other apps do not have view and edit modes. It has ups and downsides. One downside is that adding a new task required an extra click. Now, you save that, Mr. "Casual User". I hope it improves your UX a lot. We'll be watching closely. It's the small leftover joys of operational work. I love it. And yes, as with most experiments, this one will also probably fail. Hey everyone I have recently completed the Foundation of User Experience Design offered by Google. Throughout this course, I have acquired a solid grasp of the fundamental principles of design. I have learned about the different career paths in user experience, the stages involved in the product development cycle, various design terminologies, the design framework, design sprints and their stages, user research and its types, the qualities that make a good researcher, and the different methods of conducting research.

On a meeting today with one of the biggest Media companies in the world, our designer asked if she needed to be aware of any constraints regarding back end that we should adapt to while designing one of their internal systems. The customer replied "No, a user friendly design, easy to use by our employees is the most important thing. We can adapt the back end if we run into any problems". It makes me so happy that companies are realizing how impartant an intuitive design is also for internal systems, and not just for apps or systems that they are selling to customers. And it occurred to me what a difference that is from when I started working in the UX field around 15 years ago. Back then a common view was that the user should adapt to the system, and if they didn't understand- the user was "stupid". Especially when it came to internal systems that people was forced to use. Some things in the world are actually moving in the right direction. Hurray!

If you're getting into design systems, don't forget about mentally mapping out a feature's functionality with your PM, and coordinating with the UX department on testing, and research. Start with this kind of model that starts from your DS's foundation, then lean on your products modules and atoms, followed by the component architecture that structures your product / service / app, which will tie together the feature set: aka, the main course you're trying to execute.

Visually defining UX tips

If something’s not broken, why fix it? And when it comes to UX, I think Steve Krug’s principle holds true: Don’t Make Me Think. Krug wrote the book on web usability back in 2000 when the internet was a very different place. But no matter how much has changed, usability and simplicity are still very much the same thing. The Amazon website, for example, is not a pretty or flashy piece of web design (it looks like it hasn’t been updated for years). Do I go on there and accidentally spend way more money than I mean to? Absolutely. Because the UX on Amazon is geared towards simplicity above all else. The same is true of Apple. Are they the best phones on the market? Probably not. Are they incredibly easy to use? Yes. Do people like that? Absolutely. As big and complicated as the field of UX might become, these principles feel pretty fundamental to me.
