If you’re pursuing your undergrad, some key reasons why attending a summer school might be worth it for you: 1. Academic enrichment: Dive deeper into your field of study, explore new subjects, and gain exposure to cutting-edge research and ideas. 2. Global exposure: Experience different cultures, perspectives, and teaching styles, fostering a global mindset. 3. Personal growth: Develop independence, self-confidence, and critical thinking skills through immersive learning experiences. 4. Networking opportunities: Connect with like-minded students and faculty from diverse backgrounds, building valuable professional networks. 5. University and career exploration: Gain insights into potential academic and career paths, which can aid in making informed decisions. 6. Enhance applications: Participation in prestigious summer programs can strengthen university applications for Masters/MBA. The deadline for most of these courses is in March/April, hence there isn’t much time left to apply. Moreover the admission into competitive summer schools such as The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and Imperial College London can be very selective involving a range of documents. To understand which summer school and course might be a good fit for you and to prepare the application for the same to ensure success, reach out to me or Vani Duggal. Please share this with anyone for whom this would be useful! Remember to follow UniAdvise for more such updates! #summerschool #topuniversities #applicationsupport

Hands down, being a panelist at the LSE SPRING Away Day was the highlight of my week 🙌🏼 We discussed how the skills you gain during your PhD can be applied to careers in policymaking, and it was a privilege to share my experience alongside inspiring colleagues from local and central government 🎓🏛️ As part of the day, I also ran a real-world policy challenge workshop. Armed with an evidence pack, students had just 45 minutes to tell a story with the data and make some evidence-led policy recommendations. They absoutlely nailed it, and it showed how their expertise can help shape meaningful change in local government and beyond💡 Reflecting on the day, it's clear that PhD students have untapped potential beyond the ivory tower 🌟 A career in academia is just one of many paths; PhD students (and employers) should not undervalue their transferable skills in research, critical thinking and problem solving. My advice: learn to market your versatile skills! Thanks for the invitation Maria-Christina Vogkli The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) #PhD #localgov #policy #academia #careers #data #research #collaboration #partnerships

One of Learning Life's interns, USC student Junlong Wang, is co-leading a discussion with the famous Harvard University philosopher Michael Sandel on #meritocracy and #universities, through the USC's Bridge Cultural Exchange Academy, a student group Junlong founded. The discussion is online next Wed Aug 23 at 8pm EST. Register to attend here: https://lnkd.in/exqhJfAn Here are the questions Sandel will be addressing, based on his book, The Tyranny of Merit: Can We Find the Common Good?: Elite universities are often seen as meritocratic institutions that enable students to rise as far as their effort and talents will take them. Is this the case, or does the intense competition for admission reproduce privilege? If everyone had a truly equal chance to compete, would the winners deserve their admission? Should success in life depend on attending an elite college or university? Is meritocracy a remedy for inequality or a justification for it?
