The Milken Institute is proud to be a HealthyNYC Champion. Sung Hee Choe, managing director of FasterCures, and Sabrina Spitaletta Johar, senior director of Public Health at the Milken Institute, attended a kick-off event last week with Dr. Ashwin Vasan, commissioner, NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and other leaders who are committed to supporting HealthyNYC goals to reduce the impact of the leading causes of death and inequity. “We are pleased to join this initiative as a HealthyNYC Champion because we know partnership is critical to identifying and implementing practical solutions that prevent disease and achieve better health outcomes,” said Esther Krofah, executive vice president of Milken Institute Health in a press release for the campaign. Leading the evolution of healthcare with innovative and equitable strategies| Innovator at the intersection of technology and healthcare | Strategic thinker who is reshaping healthcare norms through disruptive leadership
“Social drivers of health impact the health of every community. Where you are born determines your access to health care along with lifestyle and disease prospects. An unequal and fragmented health care system means people receive different care depending on whether they can afford it. If you live in an underserved community, most likely your life expectancy will be shorter than if you live in a well-resourced community. To ensure good health is a reality for everyone, we must call on all countries to protect human rights as part of their health policies and systems. More investments are needed to strengthen the health care workforce and expand services. Better health outcomes depend on health workers delivering quality care.” #SDOH #HealthEquity #PremiseHealth #BeTheChangeYouWantToSee American Public Health Association American Association of Nurse Practitioners

We are partnering to translate the hard-won lessons and successes of the COVID-19 pandemic response into actionable strategies that will strengthen the partnership between our health care and public health systems. It’s time for a reimagined health system: one in which the nation’s health care and public health systems no longer work in parallel, but hand in hand – with better health for all as the common goal. http://spr.ly/6045uQKW3
