Cheap as chips! Pretty hard to understand how this can be commercially sensible. Yes, I get the whole 'loss leader' approach to securing customer loyalty and footfall. But surely it also devalues the products themselves? The cost crunch affects people and businesses along the whole supply chain, not just consumers. Sainsbury’s 'festive roast for less than £20 for six people' includes: Potatoes at GBP 0.08 per kilo Carrots at GBP 0.19 per kilo Parsnips at GBP 0.38 per kilo Brussels sprouts at GBP 0.38 per kilo Interested to know everyone's thoughts on this perennial seasonal price war.
