Ndacayisaba, PhD and Jeremy Mason, read our chapter, Mathematical Oncology to Integrate Multimodal Clinical and Liquid Biopsy Data for the Prediction of Survival, in the book, Circulating Tumor Cells: Advances in Liquid Biopsy Technologies. This chapter presents methodological challenges and advances in handling missingness and sparsity, integrating multidimensional clinical and multi-omic liquid biopsy data for improving the accuracy and robustness of machine and deep learning survival prediction models. 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 (PAT) has great potential in monitoring disease progression and treatment response in breast cancer. However, due to variations in breast repositioning there is a chance of 𝐠𝐞𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 between images. For this reason, here at the M3I group (University of Twente), we developed 𝐌𝐔𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐍-𝐫𝐞𝐠, an automatic algorithm based on coordinate-based neural networks to align repeated 3D PAT images. I am excited and honored to announce the results were just published in #SPIE's 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘪𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘖𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴 for the special issue celebrating 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐋𝐢𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐕. 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐠 as Pioneer in Biomedical Optics. This morning, I attended a talk by Rohit Bhargava on how his team at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is using infrared imaging to analyze rare diseases like cancer. Scientists have been using microscopy to look at small objects since the 1940s, and the technology has evolved rapidly since then.
