Election Day in Pilot Point is May 4! 🗳️🗳️🗳️ This month, we'll be taking you inside the 27 propositions on the May ballot and what they mean. The next proposed amendments are about policies regarding our City Council, Elections and Personnel Policies. Proposition S addresses absences of Council members and how the Council can go about replacing a vacated seat. Proposition T amends the Charter in line with the Texas Open Meetings Act. This Prop allows amendments (made in the form of a motion by a Council member) to an ordinance following a meeting without the amended ordinance being put on a future Council agenda. Example: "I move we approve Ordinance [number here] with the amended language [insert amendments here]." See all details and read the full ballot language on the May election at our website: https://lnkd.in/gBgfVQ_a #wearepilotpoint

When will we learn? This article describes some ways the GOP has skirted laws to win elections. Please, everyone, check your voter registration on your official state website. Contest it if you have been purged from the registration list. Check it again before you go to the polls. If you still find out you have been dropped from the registration list, vote a provisional ballot and then keep checking on it. Call the ACLU, democracy docket, or other organization, to help you if necessary. If you vote by mail, drop your ballot off at the election office (or official place per state regulations) and check online to make sure it has been recorded. If you can, volunteer at the polls. Vote out all election-denying candidates. https://lnkd.in/enKSURQB

2023 Industry Council elections are now underway! Voting opened Nov 22nd at 8am and will close Nov 27th at 4pm. Licensees should've received an email this morning at the address listed in your #myRECAaccount with a personalized link to vote. If you did not receive your email, please contact the Election Officer. Your link is personal to you and cannot be forwarded. Your link will allow you to vote for candidates for all Industry Councils that oversee the industries in which you hold a licence, regardless of whether you actively practice in that area. If you hold a Property Manager licence, you will have received an email before today asking you to confirm whether your area of focus is residential or commercial. This was to ensure you had access to vote for candidates directly related to your daily practice, as the Real Estate Amendment Act 2020 separated the governance of property management based on type of property. Get more information, including how to contact the Election Officer: https://lnkd.in/g58ZjXWS #SelfRegulation #AccountabilityMatters

What can change your attitude, and in turn your behaviour? Good reason? Emotional connection? A personal benefit? Effective media campaigns give us a reason to care and show us a path forward to put that care into action. They make it personal to us, taking a greater share of our emotional availability than other campaigns, and they show us they get us, like they know what matters to us. That’s why evidence is so important – know what we care about and what will make us change and use creativity to get attention and shift our thoughts and actions. Modelling desired behaviours is also key - show me someone I can relate to, doing what I can do, and experiencing the benefit you’ve shown me I want or need, and you pave the way for me to change how I think, and in turn how I act. This campaign for Electoral Commission of Queensland is focused on reaching Queenslanders and giving them a reason to vote in the upcoming local government elections. We meet our hero in an activity and place they love, connect the experience with the message (i.e. Councils run your local pool and Councillors advocate for your access to that pool), and then model the behaviour of turning up to vote to close that loop. #behaviourchange #campaign #behaviourchangecampaign #behaviour #creativeagency #evidencebased

UK Election Day Polls open in just under two hours from now, ie 0600GMT and will close at 2100GMT. Although it is indeed 'polling day' around 20 percent of votes have been cast already by post. Reportedly there have been some problems with postal ballots (despite the Post Office's assurance that all is well) but there are no signs that these are likely to have any impact on the outcome. The press is barred from all but the most trivial reporting on the election today until polling closes; so, barring a black swan or two, news flow between now and 2100GMT will not be worth following. However, within minutes of of the polls closing we should get what is expected to be a reliable exit poll, which should give us a good indication of the election outcome. For what happens thereafter please see my note of yesterday which I am attaching here for ease of reference. And I'll be back on line at 2100GMT! #UKelection

Ads across UK media have to stick to the advertising rules and be 'legal, decent, honest and truthful'. But political ads, designed to influence voters in local, regional, national or international elections or referendums, are exempt. In a big year for politics and the democratic process, we set out why the ASA doesn't regulate the claims that people see in political ads. https://lnkd.in/dm6ZZK23

A timely (and yet further) reminder about new election laws in the UK: 1. You must have photographic ID to vote. 2. Quite rightly, nobody is exempt from the above requirement. Please do remember for when the general election comes around! This has been given a huge amount of publicity in the past few years, but easy to forget on a busy day. https://lnkd.in/eRsifnSU
